The Association of Organisations of Mediterranean Businesswomen (AFAEMME) is a federation of businesswomen associations which was launched in 2002 in Barcelona (Spain). AFAEMME currently comprises 51 member organisations from 24 Mediterranean countries. AFAEMME is a coordinator of European and Mediterranean business and gender equality projects and ground-breaking research, a networking platform f

or businesswomen and women entrepreneurs from all over the Mediterranean, and a Euro-Mediterranean lobby for strengthening gender equality and facilitating the access of women to decision-making positions in the economy. AFAEMME serves as platform for international projects that promote gender equality in the labour market; projects through which its member organisations develop ground-breaking research and set up workshops, conferences and networking events. These activities are usually provided in collaboration with public institutions and the European Commission. AFAEMME is member of the European Commission's Network of Women in Decision-Making in Politics and the Economy; member of the Association of Mediterraean Chambers of Commerce and Industry (ASCAME); member and treasurer of the ANIMA Investment Network; international partner of the Global Summit of Women; member of the Anna Lindh Foundation; organisation in special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC); and member of the Spanish Federation of Women Entrepreneurs (OMEGA).

, President of AFAEMME - Association of Organisations of Mediterranean Businesswomen - , participated on 9 and 10 July 2026 in the Forum «Regions driving the Mediterranean forward: from Pact to Impact», organised by the Generalitat de Catalunya together with the IEMed , and held at the Recinte Modernista de Sant Pau in Barcelona.

During the conference, Mr. Gaztelu ( MENA) emphasized that Mediterranean institutions and organizations must propose concrete actions to drive economic and social progress.
