⬛️⬜️ “Every day that Catalonia is not independent, we lose rights and wellbeing.”

Our will to exist is a path of no return, and in 2026 we will remain steadfast in the struggle for independence.

⬛️⬜️ "We've only voted and demonstrated. The tag 'normalization' is negative because it denies our political conflict and makes it seem as if we've had a violent conflict" - Elisenda Paluzie speaking at Assemblea Nacional Catalana's symposium on why normalization doesn't make sense in the Catalan case.

⬛️⬜️Professor Timothy Waters acknowledges that, even though we live in an interdependent world and nobody actually governs themselves, "it is valuable to have those tools of statehood sovereignty to negotiate in that world" in order to govern whatever you can.

⬛️⬜️🗣“The democratic crisis is colossal, and it demands revolutionary change. The Catalan democratic revolution is exactly that: it is transversal, interclassist and goes to the radical foundation of democracy.”

As explained by Vicent Partal at the International Symposium.

⬛️⬜️Statehood is the right to have rights. We want 's independence because, as Neus Torbisco remarked at Assemblea Nacional Catalana's symposium, it is the only way to ensure full protection of our individual and collective human rights.

We must—and we will—keep fighting for our rights.

⬛️⬜️Assemblea's symposium last week, with Catalan and international academics and experts, created a space for debate and reflection on how the pro-independence movement should adapt in order to navigate the complex new global order.

The current context poses serious challenges for stateless peoples and nations, but the social justice goals of working towards full sovereignty can represent a hopeful alternative to the current resurgence of authoritarianism, weakening of multilateral institutions and erosion of human rights.

Catalonia's pursuit of self-determination is not only a national struggle but fits within a universal question for freedom, identity, and political legitimacy.
