"I had the honour of participating in the SWY Weekend organized by the Bahrain SWYAA Alumni Association. The program brought together alumni and participants to promote cultural exchange, community engagement, and international friendship, which are the main values of the Ship for World Youth (SWY) program.

The activities were designed to encourage interaction and showcase Bahrain’s hospitality. The presence of the Japanese Ambassador, Asako Okai, was especially meaningful. Her participation strengthened the ties between Bahrain, Japan, and other participating countries.

One of the most memorable parts of the weekend was our visit to a centre for children with disabilities and their families. We spent time with the children and joined activities together. This experience highlighted the importance of inclusion, empathy, and social responsibility.

In conclusion, SWY Weekend Bahrain was not only a cultural event but also a meaningful initiative that supported community engagement and international cooperation."

"January touches all SWYers profoundly differently than non-SWYers, as for us it does not simply mark the beginning of a new year, but the beginning of an entirely new life. The moment we embarked on the ship, each of us experienced a transformation best captured by our slogan ‘Once a SWYer, always a SWYer!’ It is no exaggeration to say that SWYers can confidently state, without a second thought, ‘the ship shaped the person I am now.’ That moment marked the point where our lives changed, evolved, and expanded—gaining deeper meaning, a stronger sense of connection, the experience of the world as a single home, and a love so profound that words often fall short to define it.

This time, however, December quietly took over January’s role. Instead of opening a new chapter, it marked the closing of an era. Fuji Maru—my home for 43 unforgettable days—has already sailed into memory. And this year, we will also be saying goodbye to Nippon Maru. In this moment of transition, IYEO organized a truly wonderful program that allowed us to return home one last time and relive that deeply cherished feeling: Arigatou Nippon Maru!

I was incredibly fortunate to be able to participate, especially as the cabins were sold out in 20 minutes—I must confess that I even set an alarm to secure my cabin. On December 18, we embarked from Nagoya Port and sailed to Kobe Port, where we had to part ways with our home for the very last time. Though short, the program was beautifully packed with activities that felt both nostalgic and timeless, taking us right back to our ship days: the evacuation drill, the opening ceremony, inspiring seminars, stargazing, sunrise yoga, and countless shared moments in between. Each activity became yet another unforgettable memory for every SWYer present, reminding us once again of the unique bond we share.

Of course, one night could never be enough. Yet even that brief return was infinitely better than nothing. Being back felt like coming home—comforting, emotional, and deeply grounding. With the utmost sincerity and from the bottom of my heart, on behalf of Turkish Alumni and my dear fellow SWYers:

Reflection of 16th GA in Egypt 🇪🇬

Hello, I’m Ferdi from SWY35 👋

The 16th SWYAA Global Assembly 2025 in Egypt was an incredible experience for me — and a very special one. It was my first GA after SWY, and also my first big SWYAA event after becoming the new president of SWYAA Türkiye, so I was genuinely excited from the moment I arrived.

We explored the rich history and unique atmosphere of Egypt together — Cairo, Alexandria, and Giza. We visited so many amazing places, including the iconic pyramids, the impressive Grand Egyptian Museum, and many other unforgettable spots along the way. And of course, the food… I tried so many amazing Egyptian dishes throughout the GA. But what made it truly unforgettable was the people. Getting to meet and reconnect with SWY'ers from SWY1 all the way to SWY36 reminded me again why this community feels so unique, and I was lucky to meet so many inspiring and incredible people who all carry the SWY spirit in their own way.

Standing in front of a world wonder was unreal — but SWY still feels like the wonder of my own world. I’m grateful for the memories, the friendships, and the SWY spirit we brought back to life together. Huge thanks to the SWYAA Egypt, organizers, and everyone who made this GA happen.

Until we meet again — let’s keep the SWY spirit alive.💯

Reflection of 16th GA in Egypt 🇪🇬

This is a thank you message for All PY 💖
I’m Gaye, SWY31, Turkish ANL. It’s been 6 years since we left Nippon Maru and returned to daily life. 2025 GA in Egypt was my first attendance to any GA, and it was absolutely magical. Not only I get to see my batchmates again, but I also had the chance to connect with All PY from different batches. I listened to their amazing stories of SWY and life after. SWY alumni is the definition of the world we want to see: Compassionate, understanding, respectful, intelligent, kind, successful and fun. I believe we are part of something great like no other community around the world. And I like to sincerely thank the Egyptian Delegation for their hard work, and All PY for welcoming me just like a family member.
SWY MUST CONTINUE. Lets do our best to ensure the continuum of the program 💪🏻.
I’m looking forward to seeing you all again, and meeting rest of the PYs I haven’t had the pleasure of meeting yet. Stay healthy, happy, and authentic.

We have delicious news! 😋
SWY31 Burak opened a artisan pizza & bakery restaurant in Istanbul called "Sprout".

It is a great place that uses seasonal and local products and prioritizes sustainability while not compromising on taste. Approved by SWY Turkiye.👌

As it has become our new reunion spot, looking forward to take Istanbul visiting SWYers to Sprout! 🌱

"We participated in the Camino activity organized by SWY Spain. Tuba and I were among us. It was a well-planned week, with a lot of effort. As always, it was wonderful, with the opportunity to meet old friends and new ones. There were 25 of us, along with people from Spain, Japan, Egypt, Mexico, Bahrain, Germany, and France. We had a wonderful week, walking over a hundred kilometers together. ♥️"

“What a weekend! Barcelona was bursting with laughter, memories, and that unbeatable SWY spirit. Ever since I moved here, I’ve dreamed of a SWY reunion in this magical city — and it finally happened thanks to our Spanish alumni!

Huge thanks to SWYAA Spain for pulling off such an amazing event. From start to finish, it was a weekend full of joy, connection, and shared stories. And what a special treat to meet former participants from SWY4, who visited Barcelona way back in 1992. Hearing their first-hand stories about the port of call here brought a whole new layer of meaning to our gathering.
