Planeta Sana by Worldtravelable “Mens sana in corpore sano”. We want to go a step further: a healthy mind in a healthy body and in a The end goal was to have a positive impact on travel. How?

(EN) My project “Planeta Sana” started with Worldtravel-able, a blog aimed at inspiring people to travel responsibly, no matter what their circumstances. Then we evolved: we realized that the core of our project was to enhance the health and well-being of all the people on this planet. We need a healthy planet if we want to have a healthy mind in a healthy body! I connected the dots when I saw how

my health impacted my life. But also when I saw the damage mankind is responsible for. The first one was the oil spills, but then I got really impacted by Gasland, talking about the side effects of gas fracking on our health. I realized how the world was wired: infinite growth in a finite world, thinking short term to get financial benefits. No matter what the damage. Our life, well being, health, and safety completely depends on our planet. Which ultimately depends on us! Travel was my way to tackle those topics. Going abroad also opened my mind. It taught me empathy and respect. It taught me that being different is what makes life richer and beautiful. It also taught me that you can’t judge a book by its cover. When you are a little girl whose mother comes from a country nobody knows, people hate you for being different, and others love you for the same reason. It’s up to you to decide who you want to pay attention to. Being different brings lots of discrimination. And the same thing happens when you have an illness, visible or invisible. It can take decades to accept it, because we don’t want people to know and judge us for it. And what we want the least, is to be defined by it. We are not our illness. It’s not because we can’t walk much that we can’t discover the planet. We just have to adapt and be creative. And my time has come to bring awareness, so that everybody feels they belong to this planet, and that limits don’t exist, only in our minds. We are all part of the same race: the human race. And meeting people from around the world, to see the beauty of our planet made me care about preserving it. I want to inspire you through my experiences. Sharing stories about our nomad lifestyle, living abroad but like a local, and travelling to explore a new culture in an authentic way, sharing some expert's tips to make it easier. This is a brand new project which I am working to expand. And we want you to be part of this movement, by collaborating, sharing tips and places you know who have great respect for diversity, the health of people and of Mother Nature. Eventually, we want to promote a respectful lifestyle in our home and bring it with us everywhere in the world. Think of the way we consume, how we buy, what we eat, how we shop. Everything is linked together! Planeta sana, meaning, “the planet heals” (us). But only if we take care of it. As Gandhi meant and was summarized: "be the change you want to see in the world".

You will never experience this feeling in Amsterdam or other major tourist cities.
It’s not in guidebooks. Not on the “Top 10 things to do” lists.

It’s what happens when you slow down, get lost, and stop treating travel like a checklist.

For days, I’ve simply been discovering small villages around where I’m staying instead of visiting Amsterdam. No tourist attractions. No queues. No pressure. No crowds. Just local life, nature, quiet streets, and the feeling of actually being part of a place instead of consuming it.

And honestly? This feels far more authentic than any overcrowded hotspot ever could.

Mass tourism is exhausting local communities, destroying ecosystems, and turning cities into theme parks. Slow tourism is one of the few ways we can still travel while respecting the places we visit.

I won’t share the location because some places deserve to stay protected.

What about you?
Which big tourist destination have you started avoiding… and what hidden area did you discover instead?

Invisible disability doesn’t mean invisible impact.

For many people living with chronic conditions like Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, fibromyalgia, and other invisible conditions, everyday life requires constant adaptation.

Energy is limited.
Every action has a cost.

👉 Even simple things like showering or going out can lead to pain, exhaustion, and hours of recovery.

And symptoms don’t stay the same.
👉 They fluctuate from day to day — sometimes hour to hour.

But this reality is often ignored.

In many cases, access to support is denied:
• disability recognition
• social care support
• disability benefits

👉 Decisions are often based on short assessments that don’t reflect what a body can sustain over a full day.

When you measure a few minutes…
you miss the full reality.

Over time, this has real consequences.

👉 Pushing through can make symptoms worse
👉 Isolation can set in
👉 And despite years of effort, some people still get worse

This post isn’t about blame.
It’s about awareness.

👉 More understanding
👉 Less judgment
👉 Better support

💬 If this resonates with you, feel free to share or comment

💜 It’s Ehlers-Danlos Awareness Month

Planeta Sana summarises how recycling works in Spain and gives you tips, bin by bin, after interviewing local experts on waste management.

It’s soon Rare Disease Day (28 February).

Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) is officially classified as a rare disease in Europe.
But what if it is not that rare — only rarely diagnosed?

This genetic connective tissue disorder impacts the body’s support structure (collagen), affecting joints, skin and even internal organs. Symptoms can vary widely from one person to another and often remain invisible.

These symptoms are not “pain without cause”.
They are often linked to repeated micro-injuries in fragile connective tissues — which may not always be visible on standard medical imaging such as MRI or X-rays.

Because EDS affects multiple body systems and may not be well known by many healthcare professionals, patients are frequently misdiagnosed for years — sometimes even decades.

Many are first diagnosed with conditions such as:
• Fibromyalgia or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
• Anxiety disorders
• IBS or migraines
• “Benign” joint hypermobility
• Other chronic or functional conditions

Raising awareness can help:
✔️ Shorten the diagnostic journey
✔️ Improve clinical understanding
✔️ Validate patient experiences
✔️ Improve quality of life

Listening to — and believing — patients is the first step towards better care.

Invisible illnesses are still real illnesses.

Is vegan food suitable for everyone? 🌱

We’re often told that going vegan is the solution for the planet.
But sustainability — like health — is not one-size-fits-all.

Different bodies, cultures, environments, and health conditions need different ways of eating.

👉 Not all vegan foods are sustainable.
👉 Not all animal products are harmful.
👉 Caring about the planet doesn’t require perfection.

For some people, a fully vegan diet works well.
For others — because of chronic illness, digestive disorders, intolerances, or genetics — it simply doesn’t.

And that doesn’t make them environmental hypocrites.

What really matters is balance:
• choosing local and seasonal food
• reducing ultra-processed products
• limiting waste and packaging
• supporting small-scale and regenerative farming
• listening to your body, without guilt

We’ve written a full article exploring this question in depth, with nuance and real-life perspectives.
