👉 2 June. Heat Action Day. Climate change is turning up the heat around the world. But together, we can !

☀️ How to cope during heatwaves:

• Keep windows and blinds closed during the hottest hours of the day
• Ventilate at night to let cooler air in (passive cooling)
• Take cool showers or refresh yourself with water
• Soak your feet in cool water
• Drink plenty of cold water throughout the day
• Wear light clothing made from natural fibres
• Use simple cooling methods like a fan, mist spray, or a damp sheet while sleeping
• Check in on elderly people or those with chronic illnesses, especially if they live alone or need help accessing cooler spaces
• Remember that while we often hear about record-breaking temperatures outdoors, people are often most affected by heat indoors, where it can sometimes be even hotter.

🌱 Closing the Loop was an initiative led by the Molfetta Local Branch of the Italian Red Cross, selected as one of the winners of the “Greening the Red” 2025 competition.

♻️The project was implemented through a mobile “Reuse Tent”, set up in different public spaces across Molfetta (Italy), where the community engaged in practical activities aimed at promoting reuse and waste reduction, as shown in the pictures.

💡 By bringing sustainability directly into public spaces, the initiative raised environmental awareness and encouraged collective responsibility through simple, hands‑on action.

🌍 Small actions, shared responsibility, real impact.

We sincerely thank the Red Cross Red Crescent Movement MHPSS Hub and the Lebanese Red Cross for having developed this valuable resource based on the workshop conducted at our Youth Camp Atlantis this year. We look forward to further fruitful collaborations with you!

📢 Facilitators guide: Peer support and PFA workshop

The facilitation guide of the “Peer Support and Psychological First Aid” workshop, was delivered during the 21st edition of the Mediterranean Youth Camp Atlantis (2025).

The camp, organized by the Centre for Centre for the Cooperation in the Mediterranean (CCM) hosted by the Cruz Roja Española (Spanish Red Cross), is an annual gathering for young people from the 26 National Societies of the Red Cross and Red Crescent in the Mediterranean basin. Its main objectives are to build capacity, facilitate the exchange of experiences, strengthen competencies, and inspire young people to act as agents of social change.

🗨️ "Participating in the Atlantis Camp gave me space to learn, reflect, and feel genuinely heard as a young person. Returning a year later in a leadership role was emotional and meaningful. It reminded me how much that first experience had shaped who I am today. Stepping into a facilitation role felt less about leading from the front and more about walking alongside other young people, creating the same sense of safety and encouragement that I once received. Moving from being supported to supporting others was deeply meaningful, and the dissemination of the Facilitators’ Guide, co-developed with the MHPSS Hub, enabled this work to extend beyond the camp and support wider communities. This journey showed me that when young people are trusted and given space to grow, they don’t just gain skills, they come back ready to give, to lead with care, and to strengthen their communities," says Catherine Iskandar, MHPSS Officer, Lebanese Red Cross

🗨️ “Engaging and working with youth across the Mediterranean is not only important, it is essential for the CCM. Young people are the present and the future of our Movement, bringing fresh ideas and energy that inspire us all. That is why we strive to support them by creating spaces where they can learn together, exchange experiences, and build mutual support networks. These opportunities strengthen their sense of belonging and motivate them to continue driving social change, where youth can play a key role. Moreover, these dedicated spaces reinforce peer-to-peer connections and leadership within the Movement and their National Societies, where they lead countless initiatives that truly make a difference among their peers,” says Carlota Basols, Coordinator for CMM.
