It was founded in September 2013, on the initiative of Eric Abidal and his wife, Hayet Abidal. It was born to share a human project to improve the life of other people and to convey clear values: self-improvement, willpower, effort, generosity and teamwork. The difficulties that Eric Abidal has had to overcome have served him as an experience, and now he wants to help people who may be in a simila
r situation in which he lived. “Everything begins today”, this is the slogan of Eric Abidal Foundation. Don’t surrender, you have to surpass yourself and keep on going. To do this he had a medical team, but he also had the most important thing: his family and friends who helped him fight and overcome all odds. And this vitality is what Eric Abidal Foundation wants to convey, not only to people that work and collaborate with the Foundation but also to people that will benefit from several actions. The Foundation has projects to create synergies between people that can help children and young people to improve their medical treatment processes. It also pays special attention to activities that improve the lives of people at risk of social exclusion. The basic tool for this is sports practice, with a focus on football. To find ways to collaborate with other people and companies, the Foundation makes an awareness work that includes actions to make public and promote the research in the fight against cancer. One of the commitments of the Foundation will be the cooperation with other organizations and foundations in order to enable more people to improve their quality of life and have the conviction that “Everything begins today”.
