Hay opiniones, eslóganes, discursos, debates, campañas... Hay palabras elegidas para provocar miedo, odio y simplificar una realidad compleja.
Y luego están los datos.
Los datos no tienen ideología, no gritan y no necesitan exagerar. Sirven para comprobar si lo que escuchamos se corresponde con la realidad.
Hemos querido poner sobre la mesa algunas cifras registradas por ACNUR. No para cerrar el debate, sino para abrirlo sobre una base mucho más difícil de discutir: los hechos.
Porque cuando hablan de migración, hablan de números. Pero nunca debemos olvidar qué hay detrás de ellos: personas.

There are opinions, slogans, speeches, debates, campaigns... There are words deliberately chosen to provoke fear, hatred and simplify a complex reality.
And then there are the facts.
Facts have no ideology, they don’t shout and they don’t need to exaggerate. They help us determine whether what we hear corresponds to reality.
We wanted to put some figures recorded by UNHCR on the table. Not to close the debate, but to open it on a much harder basis to dispute: the facts.
Because when they talk about migration, they talk about numbers. But we must never forget what lies behind them: people.
