🚨 LLAMAMIENTO CIUDADANO 🚨

Hoy hemos encontrado una escena muy triste en un descampado a la salida de Arrecife, dirección San Bartolomé.

Junto a varios escombros abandonados apareció el cuerpo sin vida de una raya o chucho marino, que además había parido una cría totalmente desarrollada. Una imagen que nos ha dejado impactados.

Nos preguntamos: ¿cómo ha llegado este animal hasta aquí? Evidentemente no salió del mar por sí solo. Todo apunta a que alguien lo sacó de su hábitat y lo abandonó en este lugar.

No sabemos exactamente qué especie es ni las circunstancias de lo ocurrido, por lo que hemos avisado a las autoridades para que puedan investigar el caso y retirar el animal.

Queremos hacer un llamamiento al respeto por la naturaleza y por todos los seres vivos. El mar no es un vertedero, y los animales merecen un trato digno, vivos o mu***os.

Si alguien tiene información sobre cómo pudo llegar este animal hasta este lugar, rogamos que la comunique a las autoridades competentes.

Entre todos podemos ayudar a proteger nuestro entorno.

Today we came across a very sad scene in an open area on the outskirts of Arrecife, on the road towards San Bartolomé.

Among piles of dumped rubble, we found the lifeless body of a stingray, which had also given birth to a fully developed pup. It was a shocking and heartbreaking sight.

We ask ourselves: how did this animal end up here? Clearly, it did not leave the sea on its own. Everything suggests that someone removed it from its natural habitat and abandoned it in this location.

We do not know the exact species or the circumstances surrounding what happened, so we have informed the authorities so they can investigate the case and remove the animal.

We would like to make an appeal for greater respect towards nature and all living beings. The ocean is not a dumping ground, and animals deserve to be treated with dignity, whether alive or dead.

If anyone has information about how this animal came to be in this location, please report it to the relevant authorities.

Together, we can help protect our environment.

Heute haben wir in einem unbebauten Gelände am Ortsausgang von Arrecife in Richtung San Bartolomé eine sehr traurige Entdeckung gemacht.

Zwischen illegal abgeladenem Bauschutt fanden wir den leblosen Körper eines Rochens. Besonders erschütternd ist, dass das Tier offenbar ein vollständig entwickeltes Jungtier zur Welt gebracht hatte. Ein Anblick, der uns tief betroffen gemacht hat.

Wir fragen uns: Wie ist dieses Tier hierher gekommen? Offensichtlich hat es das Meer nicht von selbst verlassen. Alles deutet darauf hin, dass jemand es aus seinem natürlichen Lebensraum entfernt und an diesem Ort zurückgelassen hat.

Wir kennen weder die genaue Art noch die genauen Umstände dieses Vorfalls. Deshalb haben wir die zuständigen Behörden informiert, damit sie den Fall untersuchen und das Tier entfernen können.

Wir möchten alle dazu aufrufen, die Natur und alle Lebewesen zu respektieren. Das Meer ist keine Müllhalde, und Tiere verdienen einen würdevollen Umgang – ob lebend oder tot.

Falls jemand Informationen darüber hat, wie dieses Tier an diesen Ort gelangt ist, bitten wir darum, diese den zuständigen Behörden mitzuteilen.

Gemeinsam können wir dazu beitragen, unsere Umwelt zu schützen.

🚨 El Cabildo de Lanzarote ha aprobado la apertura de la temporada de caza a partir del 16 de agosto.

Desde ADEMAL decimos claramente: NO a la caza.

Nos hablan de tradición, pero ninguna tradición puede justificar el sufrimiento, el maltrato y la muerte de animales.

Tampoco podemos mirar hacia otro lado cuando seguimos recibiendo denuncias sobre cazadores que invaden propiedades privadas sin permiso, ni cuando perros y hurones son utilizados en una actividad que demasiadas veces termina en abandono, lesiones o condiciones incompatibles con el bienestar animal.

Mientras se anuncian controles y vigilancia, la realidad es que cada año vemos las mismas carencias. Y resulta especialmente grave que el propio Cabildo siga sin cumplir plenamente con las obligaciones que establece la Ley de Caza de Canarias, entre ellas la existencia de un registro adecuado de los perros de caza.

La fauna de nuestra isla no necesita más escopetas. Necesita protección.

La sociedad canaria avanza y cada vez son más las personas que entienden que el respeto a los animales debe estar por encima de costumbres heredadas de otra época.

Porque matar por ocio no es deporte. Porque el maltrato no es cultura. Porque la vida merece respeto.

🚨 The Lanzarote Island Council has approved the opening of the hunting season starting on August 16.

At ADEMAL, we say it clearly: NO to hunting.

We are told it is a tradition, but no tradition can justify the suffering, mistreatment, and killing of animals.

Nor can we turn a blind eye when we continue to receive reports of hunters entering private property without permission, or when dogs and ferrets are used in an activity that too often ends in abandonment, injuries, or conditions incompatible with animal welfare.

While controls and monitoring are being announced, the reality is that every year we see the same shortcomings. It is especially concerning that the Island Council itself still fails to fully comply with the obligations established by the Canary Islands Hunting Law, including maintaining an adequate registry of hunting dogs.

The wildlife of our island does not need more shotguns. It needs protection.

Canarian society is moving forward, and more and more people understand that respect for animals must come before customs inherited from another era.

Because killing for leisure is not a sport. Because abuse is not culture. Because life deserves respect.

🚨 Der Inselrat von Lanzarote hat die Eröffnung der Jagdsaison ab dem 16. August beschlossen.

Wir von ADEMAL sagen ganz klar: NEIN zur Jagd.

Man spricht von Tradition, doch keine Tradition kann das Leiden, die Misshandlung und die Tötung von Tieren rechtfertigen.

Ebenso dürfen wir nicht wegsehen, wenn wir weiterhin Beschwerden über Jäger erhalten, die ohne Erlaubnis Privatgrundstücke betreten, oder wenn Hunde und Frettchen für eine Tätigkeit eingesetzt werden, die allzu oft in Aussetzung, Verletzungen oder Haltungsbedingungen endet, die mit dem Tierschutz unvereinbar sind.

Während Kontrollen und Überwachungsmaßnahmen angekündigt werden, zeigt die Realität, dass wir jedes Jahr dieselben Mängel sehen. Besonders schwerwiegend ist, dass der Inselrat selbst die Verpflichtungen des Kanarischen Jagdgesetzes noch immer nicht vollständig erfüllt, darunter die Führung eines ordnungsgemäßen Registers für Jagdhunde.

Die Tierwelt unserer Insel braucht keine weiteren Gewehre. Sie braucht Schutz.

Die kanarische Gesellschaft entwickelt sich weiter, und immer mehr Menschen verstehen, dass der Respekt vor Tieren über Bräuchen stehen muss, die aus einer anderen Zeit stammen.

Denn Töten zum Vergnügen ist kein Sport. Denn Misshandlung ist keine Kultur. Denn jedes Leben verdient Respekt.

Lucharon por él hasta el final, pero ningún animal debería depender únicamente del esfuerzo de voluntarios para sobrevivir.

Su muerte no es un accidente. Es la consecuencia del abandono institucional y del incumplimiento de la Ley de Bienestar Animal hacia los gatos comunitarios.

The kitten has passed away.

They fought for him until the very end, but no animal should have to rely solely on the efforts of volunteers to survive.

His death was not an accident. It was the result of institutional neglect and the failure to comply with Animal Welfare laws protecting community cats.

CABILDO DE LANZAROTE

Una pardela, ave protegida, colisionó contra una línea eléctrica y quedó gravemente herida, agonizando en el suelo. Una persona que la encontró llamó a los agentes de Medio Ambiente del Cabildo de Lanzarote para pedir ayuda urgente.

La respuesta que recibió fue indignante: que no iban a acudir porque les faltaban 28 minutos para finalizar su servicio y que llamara al día siguiente.

La persona les respondió algo evidente: “mañana estará muerta”.

Y así fue.

La pardela murió abandonada en la parcela, sin asistencia y sin que nadie del Cabildo acudiera a intentar salvarla.

Estamos hablando de una especie protegida. De un ser vivo que necesitaba atención urgente y que fue ignorado por quienes tienen la obligación de actuar. No puede ser que la protección ambiental dependa de si un turno está a punto de terminar.

La dejadez, la falta de empatía y la irresponsabilidad también matan.

Exigimos al Cabildo de Lanzarote explicaciones y responsabilidades ante un caso que jamás debió ocurrir.

CABILDO OF LANZAROTE

A shearwater, a protected bird species, collided with a power line and was left severely injured, agonizing on the ground. A person who found it called the Environmental Department officers of the Cabildo of Lanzarote to urgently request assistance.

The response they received was outrageous: they said they were not going to come because they had only 28 minutes left before finishing their shift, and told the person to call again the next day.

The person replied with the obvious: “By tomorrow, it will be dead.”

And that is exactly what happened.

The shearwater died abandoned on the plot of land, without assistance and without anyone from the Cabildo coming to even try to save it.

We are talking about a protected species. A living being that needed urgent care and was ignored by those who have the responsibility to act. Environmental protection cannot depend on whether a work shift is about to end.

Negligence, lack of empathy, and irresponsibility also kill.

We demand explanations and accountability from the Cabildo of Lanzarote for a case that should never have happened.

Ein Sturmtaucher, eine geschützte Vogelart, kollidierte mit einer Stromleitung und blieb schwer verletzt am Boden liegen, wo er qualvoll verendete. Eine Person, die ihn fand, kontaktierte die Umweltbeamten des Cabildo von Lanzarote und bat dringend um Hilfe.

Die Antwort war empörend: Man werde nicht kommen, da nur noch 28 Minuten bis zum Dienstende verblieben, und man solle am nächsten Tag erneut anrufen.

Die Person antwortete mit etwas Offensichtlichem: „Morgen wird er tot sein.“

Und genau so kam es.

Der Sturmtaucher starb verlassen auf dem Grundstück, ohne Hilfe und ohne dass jemand vom Cabildo erschien, um auch nur zu versuchen, ihn zu retten.

Wir sprechen hier von einer geschützten Art. Von einem Lebewesen, das dringend Hilfe benötigte und von denjenigen ignoriert wurde, die verpflichtet sind zu handeln. Umweltschutz darf nicht davon abhängen, ob eine Schicht kurz vor dem Ende steht.

Nachlässigkeit, fehlende Empathie und Verantwortungslosigkeit töten ebenfalls.

Wir fordern vom Cabildo von Lanzarote Erklärungen und Verantwortungsübernahme für einen Fall, der niemals hätte passieren dürfen.

🐾 "Crónica de un rescate FELINO en Arrecife"

Salvar animales es tarea de TODOS y de que la cadena de ayuda mutua funcione.

Ayer, sobre las 16:30 h, un alimentador de colonias, Alessandro, encontró un gatito de unos 2 meses tirado junto a un solar. Respiraba, pero estaba extremadamente débil y completamente INFECTADO de pulgas. Eran cientos y estaban devorándolo.

Angustiado por la situación, decidió llevarlo a casa de una compañera de Ademal Lanzarote.

Pero… ¿cuál es el protocolo cuando encuentras un animal en estas condiciones?

📌 Recordemos que todos los animales que estén en la calle y no tengan propietario son competencia del ayuntamiento del municipio donde se encuentren.

Por eso, el primer paso es llamar a la Policía Local.

▪️ 16:35 h – Llamada a la Policía Local de Arrecife.
La agente que nos atendió activó rápidamente a la empresa responsable del Centro de Protección Animal de Arrecife.

▪️ 16:38 h – Nos llama Ana, trabajadora del Centro de Protección Animal, para pedir la ubicación exacta.

🚑 ▪️ 16:56 h – Solo 18 minutos después, Ana llega a la vivienda y traslada al gatito al centro para ser atendido de urgencia.

Una hora más tarde, Ana nos envía un vídeo del pequeño ya asistido, tras un baño posterior a la desparasitación para retirar todas las pulgas adheridas a su cuerpo.

No es habitual ver una infección tan extrema que pueda matar a un gato, pero tratándose de un cachorro tan pequeño y de la calle, es totalmente posible.

⚠️ La picadura de la pulga es muy tóxica e introduce bacterias como la Bartonella directamente en la sangre, además de otros parásitos intestinales.

La vida de este gatito aún corre peligro, pero se ha actuado MUY RÁPIDO y el protocolo ha funcionado gracias al trabajo coordinado de muchas personas.

❓¿Y qué hacer cuando en un municipio no actúan ante una urgencia animal?

1️⃣ Si la Policía Local no acude o no gestiona la recogida:

- Pide el número del agente.
- Anota la hora exacta de la llamada.
- Contacta con una protectora o con Ademal Lanzarote:

Si no se presta el servicio de traslado veterinario y el animal muere, podría tratarse de un DELITO por negligencia.

⚖️ Los ayuntamientos están obligados a prestar auxilio 24/7 todos los días del año.

🐾 “Chronicle of a FELINE Rescue in Arrecife”

Saving animals is everyone’s responsibility, and it only works when the chain of mutual help comes together.

Yesterday, around 4:30 PM, a colony feeder named Alessandro found a kitten about 2 months old lying beside an empty lot. It was breathing, but extremely weak and completely INFESTED with fleas. There were hundreds of them feeding on its tiny body.

Distressed by the situation, he decided to take the kitten to the home of a fellow member of Ademal Lanzarote.

But… what is the protocol when you find an animal in these conditions?

📌 Let’s remember that all stray animals without an owner are the responsibility of the local council of the municipality where they are found.

That’s why the first step is to call the Local Police.

▪️ 4:35 PM – Call made to the Arrecife Local Police.
The officer who answered quickly activated the company responsible for the Arrecife Animal Protection Center.

▪️ 4:38 PM – Ana, a worker from the Animal Protection Center, calls us to ask for the exact location.

🚑 ▪️ 4:56 PM – Just 18 minutes later, Ana arrives at the house and transports the kitten to the center for emergency treatment.

One hour later, Ana sends us a video of the little one already being cared for, after receiving a post-treatment bath to remove all the fleas attached to its body.

It is not common to see such an extreme infestation capable of killing a cat, but in the case of such a young stray kitten, it is entirely possible.

⚠️ Flea bites are highly toxic and can introduce bacteria such as Bartonella directly into the bloodstream, in addition to intestinal parasites.

This kitten’s life is still in serious danger, but action was taken VERY QUICKLY, and the protocol worked thanks to the coordinated efforts of many people.

❓And what should you do when a municipality fails to act in an animal emergency?

1️⃣ If the Local Police do not respond or fail to arrange collection:

- Ask for the officer’s identification number.
- Write down the exact time of the call.
- Contact an animal rescue organization or Ademal Lanzarote:

If no veterinary transport service is provided and the animal dies, it could constitute a CRIME of negligence.

Tiere zu retten ist die Aufgabe von UNS ALLEN – und nur möglich, wenn die Kette gegenseitiger Hilfe funktioniert.

Gestern gegen 16:30 Uhr fand ein Katzenkolonie-Betreuer namens Alessandro ein etwa zwei Monate altes Kätzchen neben einem brachliegenden Grundstück. Es atmete noch, war jedoch extrem schwach und völlig von Flöhen BEFALLEN. Es waren Hunderte, die seinen kleinen Körper förmlich auffraßen.

Verzweifelt über die Situation brachte er das Kätzchen zum Haus einer Kollegin von Ademal Lanzarote.

Doch… was ist das richtige Vorgehen, wenn man ein Tier in diesem Zustand findet?

📌 Denken wir daran: Alle Tiere auf der Straße ohne Besitzer fallen in die Verantwortung der jeweiligen Gemeinde, in der sie gefunden werden.

Deshalb ist der erste Schritt immer, die Ortspolizei zu verständigen.

▪️ 16:35 Uhr – Anruf bei der Ortspolizei von Arrecife.
Die Beamtin, die uns freundlich am Telefon betreute, verständigte sofort das zuständige Unternehmen des Tierschutzzentrums von Arrecife.

▪️ 16:38 Uhr – Ana, Mitarbeiterin des Tierschutzzentrums, ruft uns an und bittet um den genauen Standort.

🚑 ▪️ 16:56 Uhr – Nur 18 Minuten später trifft Ana am Haus ein und bringt das Kätzchen zur sofortigen Notversorgung ins Zentrum.

Eine Stunde später schickt Ana uns ein Video des kleinen Tieres, nachdem es versorgt und nach der Entflohung gebadet wurde, um alle an seinem Körper haftenden Flöhe zu entfernen.

Eine so extreme Infektion, die ein Kätzchen töten kann, sieht man nicht oft. Doch bei einem so jungen Streuner ist das leider durchaus möglich.

⚠️ Flohbisse sind sehr giftig und können Bakterien wie Bartonella direkt in den Blutkreislauf übertragen – zusätzlich zu Darmparasiten.

Das Leben dieses Kätzchens ist weiterhin in ernster Gefahr, doch es wurde SEHR SCHNELL gehandelt, und das Protokoll hat dank der Zusammenarbeit vieler Menschen funktioniert.

❓Was aber tun, wenn in einer Gemeinde bei einem tierischen Notfall nichts unternommen wird?

1️⃣ Wenn die Ortspolizei nicht kommt oder keine Abholung organisiert:

- Nach der Dienstnummer des Beamten fragen.
- Die genaue Uhrzeit des Anrufs notieren.
- Kontakt zu einem Tierschutzverein oder Ademal Lanzarote aufnehmen:

Wird kein tierärztlicher Transport organisiert und das Tier stirbt, könnte dies als FAHRLÄSSIGKEITSDELIKT gelten.

ADEMAL schätzt besonders, dass die Arbeit vieler Organisationen gewürdigt wird, die sich tagtäglich — oft im Verborgenen — für verlassene und misshandelte Tiere einsetzen.

Die Gala zeichnete sich durch ihre hervorragende Organisation, die Liebe zum Detail und die Anerkennung von Personen und Gruppen aus, die sich für den Tierschutz engagieren. Veranstaltungen wie diese tragen dazu bei, das gesellschaftliche Bewusstsein zu stärken und eine empathischere und verantwortungsvollere Haltung gegenüber Tieren zu fördern.
Wir möchten dem Cabildo zu dieser wegweisenden Initiative gratulieren und dazu ermutigen, solche Veranstaltungen auch künftig fortzuführen und zu festigen. Tierschutz ist eine gemeinsame Verantwortung, und Veranstaltungen wie diese Gala zeigen, dass Lanzarote sich in Richtung eines engagierteren, solidarischeren und respektvolleren Umgangs mit allen Lebewesen entwickelt.

"Caso “Granja Experimental del Cabildo”

Hace 5 días denunciábamos ante Seprona y el Ayuntamiento de Arrecife una situación difícil de creer: 9 perros de caza, un yorkshire y un gato confinados en jaulas metálicas, utilizando depósitos de agua como “casetas”.

El lugar desprendía un fuerte olor a orines, con dos perros por habitáculo y cientos de moscas alrededor.
Unas instalaciones totalmente indebidas y, lo más grave, ubicadas en suelo público.

Resulta imposible pensar que esta situación pasara desapercibida durante tanto tiempo.

Nos confirmaron que los animales pertenecían a un particular vinculado a la caza, ex trabajador de la Granja Experimental y a otras personas ajenas del Cabildo.

El pasado martes, parte de la directiva de ADEMAL se reunió con el Consejero de Bienestar Animal, Armando Santana, para trasladarle personalmente nuestra preocupación.

Tras la repercusión pública del caso, se nos comunica que ya se ha actuado en beneficio de los animales. Ojalá sea cierto y definitivo. Nosotros, desde luego, no vamos a conformarnos únicamente con un comunicado.

Seguimos esperando explicaciones del presidente del Cabildo, Oswaldo Betancort, máximo responsable de estas instalaciones.

“Cabildo Experimental Farm” Case

Five days ago, we filed a complaint with SEPRONA and the Arrecife City Council regarding a situation that is hard to believe:
9 hunting dogs, a Yorkshire terrier, and a cat confined in metal cages, using water tanks as “dog houses.”

The place smelled strongly of urine, with two dogs per enclosure and hundreds of flies surrounding them.
Completely unacceptable facilities and, even worse, located on public land.

It is impossible to believe that this situation went unnoticed for so long.

We were informed that the animals belonged to a private individual linked to hunting, a former employee of the Experimental Farm, along with other people unrelated to the Cabildo.

Last Tuesday, part of ADEMAL’s board met with the Animal Welfare Councillor, Armando Santana, to personally express our concern.

Following the public backlash over this case, we have been told that action has already been taken for the benefit of the animals. We truly hope this is real and permanent. However, we will not be satisfied with words or statements alone.

We are still waiting for explanations from the President of the Cabildo, Oswaldo Betancort, the highest authority responsible for these facilities.

Fall „Versuchsfarm des Cabildo“

Vor fünf Tagen haben wir bei SEPRONA und der Stadtverwaltung von Arrecife eine kaum zu glaubende Situation angezeigt:
9 Jagdhunde, ein Yorkshire Terrier und eine Katze, eingesperrt in Metallkäfigen und gezwungen, Wassertanks als „Hundehütten“ zu nutzen.

Der Ort roch stark nach Urin, zwei Hunde pro Verschlag, umgeben von hunderten Fliegen.
Völlig unzulässige Einrichtungen – und noch schlimmer: auf öffentlichem Gelände.

Es ist unmöglich zu glauben, dass diese Situation so lange unbemerkt geblieben sein soll.

Uns wurde bestätigt, dass die Tiere einem Privatmann mit Verbindung zur Jagd gehörten, einem ehemaligen Mitarbeiter der Versuchsfarm, sowie weiteren Personen ohne Verbindung zum Cabildo.

Am vergangenen Dienstag traf sich ein Teil des Vorstands von ADEMAL mit dem Tierschutzbeauftragten Armando Santana, um unsere Sorge persönlich zum Ausdruck zu bringen.

Nach der öffentlichen Aufmerksamkeit zu diesem Fall wurde uns mitgeteilt, dass bereits Maßnahmen zum Wohl der Tiere ergriffen wurden. Wir hoffen, dass dies tatsächlich stimmt und dauerhaft ist. Doch wir werden uns sicherlich nicht allein mit einer Stellungnahme zufriedengeben.

Wir warten weiterhin auf Erklärungen des Präsidenten des Cabildo, Oswaldo Betancort, der letztlich für diese Einrichtungen verantwortlich ist.
