La Posada Training and Care La Posada literally means “a place to stop” in Spanish. It comes from the Latin word pausare (to pause).

We all need a place to stop, a time to pause, to slow down, to rest, to learn, and to grow. La Posada Training and Care is a project of Nueva Vida Mosaico, an NGO based in Spain. We offer retreat, rest, and debrief to frontline global workers. We also offer training focused on Culture, Care, Community, and Connection.

Rest is not laziness. It is an active, intentional decision to do what is necessary for your body, your mind, and your relationships.

Rest is restorative. It allows for healing. It resets our system for growth and thought and creativity. It gives our biological systems time for repair.

Life is busy. We have goals to hit and deadlines to meet and plenty of plates spinning. But you don't have to earn your rest.

Rest is not a reward for doing all the things.
There aren't prizes for finishing the to-do list.
Taking time to rest is not lazy - it's essential.
We are at our best when we work from a place of rest, not from a place of exhaustion.

Make time to rest. Take your Sabbath day. Go outside. Journal. Read. Eat good food. Take ir walk or get some exercise. Take a nap... a good, long nap.

Burnout is a common term within member care, but do we really understand what it is and how it can be prevented? Perhaps even more importantly, do we know how to help and support someone who is already experiencing burnout?

Join Billy Drum on November 19th as he unpacks all you need to know about burnout. His MA thesis looked at the issue of burnout in the global mission community and systemic issues related to burnout in mission agencies. He is also a coach for burnout in global workers. During this event he will unpack burnout, briefly considering symptoms and then helping us to consider how to prevent burnout and how to support someone through burnout if prevention has not been possible.
