Dog & Cat Rescue - Almeria to UK

Cómo llegar

Dogs & cats currently in Almeria, Spain, looking for their forever families in Spain or the UK 🐕🐈🥰 They also rescue from the pound (kill station) when possible.
(222)

This page has been set up to link an animal sanctuary in Almeria (South of Spain) with animal lovers in the UK. There are many stray animals in Spain so the sanctuary prioritises rescuing those that are in danger of not surviving on the street. Although safe in the sanctuary, these dogs and cats would love to have new homes but unfortunately adoption figures are low in Spain and many can spend several years there. We believe that there are plenty of good people in the UK who could give these adorable animals the home and family they deserve. How It Works:
1) If you are interested in a dog or cat please PM us where you live, any children or other pets in the home and we will discuss the adoption costs with you. If you are happy, please provide your email address and we will send you a pre adoption questionnaire. Applications from families with children are welcome.

2) If we are happy with your questionnaire and your chosen animal is available then we will arrange a home visit to check you are ready for them!

3) We will arrange transportation for you via the registered charity 'For the Love of Dogs & Cats'. The cost of this starts from 425 euros dependent on where you live in the UK.

4) Your pet will be delivered to your home wormed, vaccinated, microchipped, with pet passport and vet health certificate, and if over 6 months old they will also be neutered. We ask for an adoption donation towards these costs which varies according to whether they are neutered etc.

5) Following the adoption, we will continue to support you with advice on looking after your pet if needed and offer full rescue back up for the lifetime of the animal. Please note - a pet is for life and we encourage all adopters to consider the lifetime commitment of a dog or cat as well as their current position to adopt before reserving. Please like and share the posts so these animals can get the loving homes they deserve. Thank you.

🐾Lémur 🐾
large male German Shepherd
under the rescue since 11.04.2026.

When Alicia opened the front door of the sanctuary to collect a package, she found Lemur standing there, his tail timidly moving but his eyes wide with fear, as if he didn’t know quite what to expect.

We don’t know if he arrived there by himself, or someone left him there and he remained frozen to the spot in fear.

Of course she took him inside and he remained quite anxious the first day or two, but now he’s totally in love with Alicia and greets with joy any volunteers who visit too 😍.

Please like and share to help our lovely boy Lemur find his forever home 🙏

🐾Garbanzo🐾
medium size male podenco cross
est DOB 01.01.2022
under the rescue since

18.05.2026. Chick pea (garbanzo in Spanish) is another gorgeous dog rescued from the Almeria Pound. He was not chipped when he arrived there so his DOB is estimated. Despite not having a proper family before, Chick pea is a sweet, happy and affectionate dog. He's super sociable with both people and other dogs.
Please like and share to help him find a home 🙏

🐾Brutus 🐾
medium sized male mixed breed
under the rescue since 10.07.2026.

Brutus is another dog who was wandering alone amongst greenhouses. A woman found him looking very hungry so offered him some food, and to her surprise when she opened her car door he jumped straight in! The woman already had several rescue dogs at home and was adamant that she could not take in another one, so with a heavy heart she shooed him out the car and drove off.
However, to her surprise, when looking out the rear view mirror she could see him running down the road behind her!
It was too risky for the dog to keep running down the middle of a road so without hesitation she pulled over, opened the car door again, and in Brutus jumped.
The woman then rang everyone she could think of for help and eventually her plea reached us and we agreed to take him into our care.
Brutus was clearly abandoned but had no chip to trace him to an owner, so is now looking for a new home. He’s a lovely dog, please like and share to help him find his happy ending 🙏

🐾Jimmy 🐾
medium size male mixed breed
DOB 30.11.2025
under the rescue since 18.05.2026.

Jimmy was a very loved puppy but sadly his owner became very sick and he was being left many hours alone. So the family asked the sanctuary for help. He's adjusted fine to being at the rescue kennels and has made lots of friends already on the courtyard.
Please like and share to help him find a new home

🐾Iris 🐾
female white cat
under the rescue since 10.10.2026.

Another precious baby who was dumped in a stray colony. We don’t understand why people think it’s OK to do that, do they not understand that even if the colony is looked after, it will still be dangerous for a domesticated cat to try and adapt to living on the street. Luckily the colony carer was able to take her home and foster her and asked us for help in finding her a new home. Iris is a sweet and loving cat who deserves a happy ending. Please like and share to help her find it 🙏

PLEASE HELP! Buster and his sister Bambi have been living alone in a house in Clapham, West Sussex, since their adopter was hospitalized a few months ago. With no planned return it is vital that we find another home for these cats to go to. They are 5 years old now but traveled over from Spain as 4 month old kittens. Bambi has one bad eye (no treatment needed) and Buster has had most of his teeth out so prefers wet food. Other than that they are both in good health.
Buster is very affectionate but his sister is a bit more timid, so we would like them to be homed together.
Home check and small donation to the rescue will apply. They are both neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.
Please like and share to help them find their new home 🙏

THESE KITTENS NEED NAMES!
Our latest rescues (one boy and one girl) still need names! If you would like to name them in exchange for a donation towards their veterinary costs, or are interested in adopting them, please get in touch!

LATEST RESCUES - This family of white cats were living by a hotel in La Envia and as the kittens were getting bigger they started to wander into the road. With all the hotel traffic this is very dangerous and in fact the mummy cat’s last litter were all killed by cars 😢.
Mum is too feral to be rescued but we will make sure she is trapped and neutered. The kittens, however, are still young enough to be tamed so one of our volunteers decided to trap and rescue them. They are now safe in a foster home and we will soon start looking for their forever homes. If you would like to name them in return for a donation towards their veterinary costs, please get in touch 🙏
