This page has been set up to link an animal sanctuary in Almeria (South of Spain) with animal lovers in the UK. There are many stray animals in Spain so the sanctuary prioritises rescuing those that are in danger of not surviving on the street. Although safe in the sanctuary, these dogs and cats would love to have new homes but unfortunately adoption figures are low in Spain and many can spend sev

eral years there. We believe that there are plenty of good people in the UK who could give these adorable animals the home and family they deserve. How It Works:
1) If you are interested in a dog or cat please PM us where you live, any children or other pets in the home and we will discuss the adoption costs with you. If you are happy, please provide your email address and we will send you a pre adoption questionnaire. Applications from families with children are welcome.

2) If we are happy with your questionnaire and your chosen animal is available then we will arrange a home visit to check you are ready for them!

3) We will arrange transportation for you via the registered charity 'For the Love of Dogs & Cats'. The cost of this starts from 425 euros dependent on where you live in the UK.

4) Your pet will be delivered to your home wormed, vaccinated, microchipped, with pet passport and vet health certificate, and if over 6 months old they will also be neutered. We ask for an adoption donation towards these costs which varies according to whether they are neutered etc.

5) Following the adoption, we will continue to support you with advice on looking after your pet if needed and offer full rescue back up for the lifetime of the animal. Please note - a pet is for life and we encourage all adopters to consider the lifetime commitment of a dog or cat as well as their current position to adopt before reserving. 🐾 Pistacho 🐾

DOB 10.10.2024

Pistacho spent all his life tied with a long rope to a cabin on the site of some building works. His ‘owner’ had found him as a young pup and kept him there for company whilst he was at work during the day. Every night Pistacho was left alone, although the poor dog didn’t know any better.

After over a year of feeding him the man’s contract ended and he said goodbye to the dog, never to return again, and without a thought as to what might happen to him next 😢.

A girl in the area who knew the dog continued to feed him and take him for daily walks but the building works were coming to an end and the cabin would soon be removed. She was worried what would happen to the dog who had only ever known that cabin to be his home so contacted us for help.

Pistacho is now at the rescue kennels in his new ‘home’. We have never seen a happier dog, so excited by the company of other dogs, he hasn’t stopped playing since he arrived 😊.

Pistacho is an affectionate boy who deserves to discover what it’s like to be looked after properly, to have comfy beds and company at night. Please like and share to help him find a home 🙏

Rasputin has spent most of his life living on his owner’s small terrace, which is not unusual in Spain 😢
But thanks to the new legislation on Animal Rights the police were able to seize him after several neighbours complained.
He’s now safe at the rescue and we hope that someone will offer him a home where he will be welcome to enter the house and be taken for walks, and all the other things a pet dog deserves 🙏

This poor puppy was brought to the rescue when his owner passed away unexpectedly, and the family in their grief didn’t know what else to do with him.
But now he’s safe and a new member of our family 💕

He’s still only a few months old and has so much life ahead of him, we hope that he can find a new family to love and look after him 🤞
Polo is a cheerful and active pup who absolutely loves playing with his friends on the courtyard. He’s a little angel who laps up attention from the volunteers and gives them lots of love in return 😍

🐾 Nami 🐾

This beauty was living on the streets but when she became heavily pregnant a kind lady took her home to her garage as it was winter time and she couldn’t bear the thought of the kittens suffering in the cold.
Once the kittens were old enough to be weaned, another association in Madrid took them on to find them new homes and the plan was to neuter mum, clip her ear, and return her to her colony.
However, after all those months of living indoors the lady knew it would be cruel to return her to the streets so begged us to help find her home, as the charity in Madrid would only take the kittens.
Although Nami was initially a stray, she has tamed beautifully and now enjoys human attention. She is still inside her rescuer’s garage so would love to upgrade to finding her own forever family and finally living inside a home.

🐾 Pelusona 🐾

This beauty was living in a house with her owners and 6 other cats. The family moved away and couldn’t take the cats with them so just released all 7 onto the street!!
The cats were indoor cats and of course very scared to suddenly be fending for themselves on the street. A kind neighbour realised what had happened and put food down for them, but one was hit by a car and killed and others ran away 😥.
The only two left were Pelusona and her friend Mariana who began to camp out on the neighbour’s terrace, eating the food and sleeping on the beds that she left out for them.
After several months like that, the sanctuary manager found out about the situation and as two foster cats had recently left for the UK she was able to take Pelusona and Mariana under the sanctuary’s care 👏.

Pelusona is a very sweet and loving cat who deserves a happy ever after, please like and share to help her find a new home. 🙏

under the rescue since 19.05.2026.

Three dogs were living with an ‘owner’ with an outdated Spanish attitude who thought it was ok to let them wander about on the street and come and go from the terrace as they pleased. Of course he kept them as outdoor dogs and didn’t bother to microchip, vaccinate or neuter. A neighbour persuaded him to give up the dogs to find proper homes but he insisted on keeping one for company. He wanted a female but she managed to get him to keep the male as the dogs were not neutered, to prevent any poor pups being born into that environment. Sure enough, when Troya was taken to the vet it was found that she was already in the early stages of pregnancy, as so many dogs and cats are when rescued.
She’s now neutered and vaccinated and waiting at the rescue for a proper home. Please like and share 🙏.
