This page has been set up to link an animal sanctuary in Almeria (South of Spain) with animal lovers in the UK. There are many stray animals in Spain so the sanctuary prioritises rescuing those that are in danger of not surviving on the street. Although safe in the sanctuary, these dogs and cats would love to have new homes but unfortunately adoption figures are low in Spain and many can spend sev

eral years there. We believe that there are plenty of good people in the UK who could give these adorable animals the home and family they deserve. How It Works:
1) If you are interested in a dog or cat please PM us where you live, any children or other pets in the home and we will discuss the adoption costs with you. If you are happy, please provide your email address and we will send you a pre adoption questionnaire. Applications from families with children are welcome.

2) If we are happy with your questionnaire and your chosen animal is available then we will arrange a home visit to check you are ready for them!

3) We will arrange transportation for you via the registered charity 'For the Love of Dogs & Cats'. The cost of this starts from 425 euros dependent on where you live in the UK.

4) Your pet will be delivered to your home wormed, vaccinated, microchipped, with pet passport and vet health certificate, and if over 6 months old they will also be neutered. We ask for an adoption donation towards these costs which varies according to whether they are neutered etc.

5) Following the adoption, we will continue to support you with advice on looking after your pet if needed and offer full rescue back up for the lifetime of the animal. Please note - a pet is for life and we encourage all adopters to consider the lifetime commitment of a dog or cat as well as their current position to adopt before reserving. Aisha, female medium sized podenco cross, under the rescue since 19.08.2026.

We were notified of this stray puppy with an injured leg. A friend of the association spent hours gaining her trust until she was able to rescue her and take her to a vets where X-rays confirmed that her leg was completely broken.
When she contacted us for help, we didn’t hesitate to arrange an appointment at our vets to have the broken leg operated on and fixed. Aisha is only young and deserves to be able to run and play like every other puppy. But we need your help to pay for the operation. LATEST RESCUE - Carmencita, female light ginger cat, under the rescue since 25.08.2026.

Do you remember the story of Mariana and Pelusona? That their family moved away and left their 7 indoor cats on the street? Some were killed by cars, some disappeared but Mariana and Pelusona stayed on their terrace, where they were being fed by neighbours, until we managed to find foster homes for them.
Well now one of the other cats has returned. Carmencita has found her way back and is living on the terrace and being fed by the neighbour. With Mariana and Pelusona already with new families in the UK, we’d really like to find a new home for Carmencita too. She’s a friendly cat and can live with other cats and dogs. LATEST RESCUE - Hades, small male mixed breed, DOB 10.07.2015, under the rescue since 13.08.2026.

We rescued this little grandpa from the Almeria Pound, after giving lifelong devotion to his family they had dumped him there, surely there must have been a better solution? We couldn’t bear to see such a sweet older dog confined to a small cage so took him back to the rescue kennels. But that still isn’t the best for him, he needs a proper home and a sofa to lie on.
Hades is a friendly little dog who is happy and sociable with other dogs. Please like and share to help him find his retirement home 🙏

LATEST RESCUE - Flamenca, female tortoiseshell, under the rescue since 25.08.2026.

This beauty was living on the street and someone caught her with the intention of neutering and then releasing her back in her area. However, Flamenca turned out to be such a tame and friendly cat that the lady knew it wasn’t right to put her back on the street and asked for our help in finding her a home. Flamenca is in foster with other cats and dogs and gets on well with all. She loves her humans too and having cuddles 🥰

When Elsa and Anna's mummy was trapped and taken to be neutered, this little one suddenly appeared crying and wailing for her, so we deduced that he must also be her kitten, and the brother of Anna and Elsa. Of course we couldn't leave him in that community when we already knew there was a risk of poisoning, so he was caught and taken to be reunited with his sisters in their foster home. He's a little sweetheart and clearly less adventurous than his sisters, hence why he hadn't been running around the community pool like they were. Olaf also has calicivirus and an infected eye like his sisters.
We hope that with treatment he will also make a full recovery🙏

One of the neighbours of the dog kennels advised Alicia that a stray cat had given birth in a corner of their greenhouse about a month ago and had five kittens. This is not uncommon and not particularly of concern, however, the mum had disappeared two days ago and the hungry kittens did not stop crying and wailing😢
Even though we have been inundated with kittens recently and five is too many to realistically find homes for, Alicia couldn't leave them there to starve to death. Especially as the greenhouse owner seemed convinced that something had happened to mum and she wouldn't be coming back. And was also worried that the kittens were totally exposed and that his guard dogs might get to them.
So now these babies are under our care and desperately need homes, please like and share to help Nectarina find a home 🙏

This is another one of the little dogs that we rescued from the Almeria Pound last week. We don’t know his history or if he ever had a family before, but we do know that he deserves to have a future with a family to call his own. He’s a sweet, happy and affectionate little dog 💕. This is another little puppy who has been rescued from the Almeria Pound. We don’t know anything about his previous life, all we know is that he is very sociable so must have lived in a home. He’s a cheerful puppy and gets on great with all the other small dogs at the sanctuary. Please like and share to help him find a home 🙏
