El 7 de octubre hemos dado la bienvenida al segundo equipo de voluntariado de nuestro proyecto Solidarity Mar.

Durante los próximos 36 días, participarán en limpiezas de playas, aprenderán sobre las tradiciones pesqueras locales, descubrirán el trabajo de la comunidad pesquera y se involucrarán en actividades de conservación marina en Cambados y sus alrededores. 🌊💙

This week, we welcomed the second team of volunteers for our Solidarity Shores project. 💙

Over the next 36 days, they’ll be taking part in beach clean-ups, learning about local fishing traditions, discovering the work of the fishing community and getting involved in marine conservation activities around Cambados. 🦪

🧬 Yesterday, 24th of September, was the International Cancer Research Day. We celebrate the people and ideas working towards a future with better prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer.

That is why we were pleased to contribute to the 2026–27 Excellence Scholarships of the Master’s Degree in Molecular Oncology, organised by the Centro de Estudios Biosanitarios (CEB) in collaboration with the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos.

Last Friday, 18 September, our Vice-President, Elvira Barrié, took part in the scholarship award ceremony, where she presented grants supporting young researchers working in the field of paediatric cancer research.

Through our contribution to these scholarships, we are proud to support young researchers at the beginning of their careers and help them continue developing the knowledge, skills and research that will shape the future of oncology.

Juan, our Spanish volunteer participated in the European Solidarity Corps project “Magic Spark of Movement and Imagination” in Szczecin, Poland with Fundacja Antygrawitacja

These past nine month, his daily activities consisted of assisting in circus discipline classes, with a special focus on parkour and aerial arts. He was responsible for participant safety, organizing the space, and leading interactive warm-up games. Juan also took an active role in logistics and workshop facilitation during key events, such as Christmas shows, the circus anniversary festival, winter and summer mini-camps, and the final camp in the coastal town of Łeba.

“On a personal and professional level, this volunteering experience allowed me to reconnect with circus arts, learning new skills and tricks. All this knowledge will prove highly versatile for his future career as a Physical Education teacher. Furthermore, by stepping out of my comfort zone, I managed to integrate into both the local and international community by participating in social and sporting activities throughout my stay in Poland.”

🌼 Cultural heritage is more than preserving old buildings or traditions. It helps communities maintain a connection with their history, identity and local knowledge.

For us, cultural heritage is also part of our own history. The Foundation’s roots go back to the Taboada family, a Galician family with more than 600 years of documented history. Today, some of the historic spaces connected to this history are part of our projects and are still used and maintained.

Our volunteering projects give young people from different countries the opportunity to experience these places, discover aspects of Galician culture and contribute to their upkeep.

This year, Solidarity Fest took a different form as we joined the Festa do Albariño in Cambados by sponsoring the concert of Galician band . 🎶

Our volunteers also took part throughout the evening, helping with the organisation, welcoming visitors, running interactive activities and collecting donations for the cause.

All proceeds from the concert and donations collected during the event will support a scholarship for the Master’s Degree in Molecular Oncology, with a commitment to carry out research in paediatric oncology.

The event was also an opportunity for our volunteers to meet local people, take part in one of Cambados’ biggest cultural celebrations and contribute to a cause connected to scientific research.

On Sunday 2nd of August, some of our volunteers of the solidarity_gardens project t**e part in the . 🧅💐

Throughout the day, our volunteers had the opportunity to meet both local residents and visitors, introducing the work of Fundación Condado de Taboada, sharing the objectives of the Solidarity Gardens project, and explaining the opportunities offered by the European Solidarity Corps.

Our stand also showcased flowers, vegetables and seeds grown in our garden, giving visitors the chance to discover the project in a practical way and exchange ideas about gardening, sustainability and volunteering.
