🚀Launching Our Youth Empowerment Program (YEP)🌟

As the co-founder and CEO of YCC, I'm incredibly proud of the journey we've embarked on since our establishment in September 2023. I am thrilled to announce the official launch of the Youth Empowerment Program (YEP) by YouthClimate Connect(YCC)! This program marks a significant milestone in our journey to empower young leaders and drive positive change in the fight against climate change especially in Global Soth.

🌿What is the Youth Empowerment Program (YEP)?

The Youth Empowerment Program is a dynamic initiative focused on Climate Change Advocacy and Research. Cohort 1.0 is a 10-week program tailored to empower young individuals with essential knowledge and skills, transforming them into influential advocates and researchers dedicated to combating climate change. From educational workshops to hands-on activities and mentorship, participants will delve into the science behind climate change, its consequences, and potential solutions.

🌊Rooted in Passion, Driven by Purpose

Our journey began with a shared passion for the environment and a determination to make a difference. Inspired by My childhood experiences in western Sudan, where harmony with nature was a way of life, YCC was founded on the belief that youth have the power to drive meaningful change and address global challenges.

🌊 From Inspiration to Action

Following My participation in the Freshwater and Community Conservation Externship in 2023, the seeds of YCC were planted. With seed funding from the National Geographic Society and The Nature Conservancy, I launched the Freshwater Awareness and Community Conservation program for Sudanese students in Egypt (FWAC Program), laying the groundwork for our commitment to environmental advocacy. with like-minded individuals, including Ibrahim Osman, whose shared dedication led to the inception of YCC. Together with co-founders Zeena Abdelbasit, Shah, Monib Taha Mohamednour, and Isabelle Gomez, from diverse backgrounds spanning Sudan, Canada, India, and the USA, YCC was born out of a shared vision to mobilize youth and drive meaningful change. "The future of the FWAC Program is an exciting integration within the broader spectrum of educational initiatives offered by YouthClimate Connec - YCC. This expansion will transcend the program's initial focus solely on Sudanese students in Egypt. The program's scope will widen to encompass diverse global thought regions, aiming to engage and enlighten young minds about freshwater and Community Conservation. By integrating the FWAC Program into YCC's array of educational initiatives, the goal is to foster a deeper understanding of environmental conservation among youth worldwide, thereby amplifying its impact far beyond its original scope."

🌍 Reflecting on 2023: A Milestone in My Journey, the Path to YouthClimate Connec - YCC🌍

As 2023 draws to a close, I'm thrilled to share one of the biggest achievements of my life and a monumental milestone in my journey so far!

✨ A Journey of Purpose: From Passion to Impact ✨
This year has been an extraordinary chapter in my life journey. I embarked on a transformative path—one deeply rooted in my passion for climate and environmental activism. My journey began with the prestigious NGS+TNC Freshwater & Community Conservation Remote Externship Which was hosted by Paragon One During this transformative experience, I delved into critical research, highlighting Sudan's freshwater challenges and solutions, showcased on National Geographic's ArcGis website.

🌊 FWAC Program: Freshwater Awareness and Conservation for Sudanese Students in Egypt 🌊
Upon completing the externship, I received seed funding from the National Geographic Society and The Nature Conservancy to actualize the FWAC Program. With a grant of $2000, the initiative unfolded from July 2023 to March 2024, culminating in its successful implementation Phase last September. From August 30 to September 4, the program engaged Sudanese students in Egypt, fostering awareness and actionable steps toward freshwater conservation. This Program is implemented in Collaboration with Volunteer Hub Organization - VHO

⭐️ Evolution to YouthClimate Connec - YCC: A Vision into Action ⭐️
The success of the FWAC Program laid the groundwork for YouthClimate Connect (YCC). The program's impact and the pressing need for global action against climate change led to the birth of YCC—a movement rooted in empowering youth as catalysts for change. I am Serving as Co-founder and CEO of YCC, this global platform is committed to addressing climate issues in the world with an especially focus on the global south, championing sustainability, and empowering the youth through our online platform and annual summit.

I'm immensely grateful for the exceptional Other Co-founders and Board Members of YCC like Monib Taha Mohamednour, Zeena Abdelbasit, Ibrahim Osman, Isha Shah, Chretianne Isabelle Gomez, and many others who have joined this shared vision. Together, we form a global youth movement dedicated to combating the climate change crisis through education and raising awareness to take meaningful action.

As we approach the end of 2023, I'm honored to announce that tomorrow, I'll be presenting our collective journey, from FWAC's inception to the birth of YCC, for Paragon One, the company that guided our transformative Externship. This journey has united talents worldwide, forming a global movement to combat the climate crisis through education and action.

Day 5
4 September\ 2023
Last day but not the end

In the FWAC Program, we do believe that teaching and raising awareness of youth about the issues of freshwater resources management in Sudan is very important but also is not enough without merging the youth in open discussion groups, brainstorming, and thinking critically to figure out their opinions for creative solutions those challenges, as we mentioned before we also aiming to motivate youth to be leaders in their communities and take actions for positive changes, that's why we add soft skills workshops to our curriculum.
For that, on the last day of the FWAC Program, we made it open for group discussion to think and exchange ideas for writing projects for solutions of freshwater resources management in Sudan especially the roles of youth and local communities collaboration with local and authorities, local and international NGOs
The 4 groups suggested 4 projects targeting solving specific freshwater problems and we are following up with them to write them in a standard way to find funds to implement their project, We in the FWAC Program are so happy and proud of our alumni and we will stay do supportive them with complete commitment until translating their ideas into reality, the FWAC Program is not just a program to raise awareness of students about freshwater problems in Sudan but rather, also looking to build real leaders and initiators well self-motivated to take action to make change through their community thanks to Paragon One for offering us this opportunity to take action in changing our youth mindset and motivate them to have their role through their communities.
Thanks for The Nature Conservancy and
National Geographic Society
To support and fund this program
Thanks, Volunteer Hub Organization - VHO
For warm embracing and collaboration in implementing our programs.
Love and peace to all participants, you are now all FWAC Program partners do let us go it together.

Day 4
3 September/ 2023

The role of youth in the transition to an environmental economy and resource sustainability
💡This was the focus of discussions and workshops on the fourth day of the Freshwater Awareness and Conservation Program for Sudanese students in Egypt “FWAC Program”

Records of relevant international organizations have shown that economics is one of the biggest challenges facing the management of freshwater resources, especially in developing countries such as Sudan. So what if we could invest in various environmental resources, especially freshwater resources? We believe that this could reduce the scarcity of freshwater in Sudan, especially in rural areas.

The day was included presenting two workshops discussed some challenges for water availability in Sudan:-
⬅️The first workshop was on “Environmental Economics and its Impact on Freshwater Water”
▪️Presented by: Environmental activist
👤Um Salama Awad Al Karim

⬅️The second workshop was presented on “Water Pollution and poor Infrastructure”
▪️Presented by: the FWAC Program Manager
👤Abd Elslam Taha Jadid

▪️The day was marked by great interaction from youth, and great enthusiasm to work on creating sustainable economic ideas and projects, while at the same time preserving the environment and natural resources especially freshwater resources.
