تجربة زيارة المرصد تم عرضها بشكل مفيد وممتع، وقدرت توصل صورة حقيقية لأهمية المكان وقيمته البيئية الكبيرة.

والحقيقة إن مرصد طيور الجلالة بيؤكد يوما بعد يوم إنه واحد من أهم مواقع رصد الطيور على مستوى العالم، ونقطة محورية في مسار هجرة الطيور.

محتوى مهم زي ده بيساهم بشكل كبير في رفع الوعي وتعريف الناس بقيمة ثرواتنا الطبيعية… كل التوفيق دايما.

عودة النسر الأسود… للمرة الرابعة في الجلالة

شبه مهدد (NT) | Near Threatened وفقًا للقائمة الحمراء العالمية (IUCN) لعام ٢٠٢٥
في مشهد يبعث على الحماس، رصد فريق مرصد طيور الجلالة هذا العام نسرًا أسود يافعًا (Cinereous Vulture – Juv.) للمرة الرابعة خلال السنوات الخمس الماضية، وفي نفس التوقيت تقريبًا من شهر أبريل.

هذا التكرار اللافت يحمل دلالة علمية مهمة، ويؤكد مجددًا الأهمية الاستثنائية لمنطقة الجلالة وخليج السويس كأحد أبرز ممرات هجرة الطيور الجارحة خلال موسم الربيع.

ويُعد النسر الأسود من الأنواع النادرة نسبيًا في منطقتنا، لذلك فإن تكرار ظهوره في الجلالة يمثل حدثًا مميزًا، ويضيف قيمة علمية كبيرة لبيانات الرصد طويلة الأمد.

كانت أول مشاهدة موثقة له في المرصد يوم ١١ أبريل ٢٠٢٣، ثم تكررت مشاهدته في أعوام لاحقة في توقيتات متقاربة جدًا، ما يعكس نمطًا واضحًا في مسار هجرته وتوقيتها.

إن عودته في نفس الفترة تقريبًا من كل عام تذكير مذهل بدقة أنماط الهجرة وروعة انتظامها، ويؤكد أهمية الاستمرار في برامج الرصد العلمي لفهم هذه الظواهر الطبيعية وحماية هذا الممر الحيوي.

ورغم أهمية هذا الرصد، يظل النسر الأسود من الأنواع التي تواجه عددا من التهديدات المتزايدة على طول مسارات هجرتها ومناطق انتشارها.
ومن أبرز هذه المهددات التسمم غير المتعمد، سواء نتيجة استخدام الطعوم السامة أو المواد الكيميائية، إلى جانب تدمير وفقدان البيئات الطبيعية التي يعتمد عليها في الراحة والتغذية أثناء الهجرة.

كما يمثل تناقص موارد الغذاء أحد أخطر التحديات التي تواجه هذا النوع، خاصة مع التغيرات المتسارعة في استخدامات الأراضي وتراجع الموائل الطبيعية

The Return of the Cinereous Vulture… Fourth Record at Galala

In an exciting moment, the Galala Bird Observatory team recorded a juvenile Cinereous Vulture (Juv.) this year for the fourth time in the past five years, once again around the same time in April.

This repeated observation carries important scientific value and further highlights the exceptional importance of the Galala area and the Gulf of Suez as one of the key migration corridors for soaring birds during the spring season.
The Cinereous Vulture is relatively rare in our region, making its repeated appearance at Galala a remarkable event and a valuable addition to long-term monitoring data.
The first documented sighting at the observatory was on April 11, 2023. Since then, it has been recorded in subsequent years at very similar timings, reflecting a consistent pattern in its migration route and timing.

Seeing it return at nearly the same time each year is a powerful reminder of the precision of bird migration and the remarkable consistency of these natural cycles. It also underscores the importance of continued monitoring efforts to better understand and protect this vital flyway.

Despite the importance of this record, the Cinereous Vulture remains a species facing a growing number of threats across its migration routes and range.

Among the most significant threats is unintentional poisoning, whether from the use of poisoned baits or chemical substances, in addition to the destruction and loss of natural habitats that it relies on for resting and feeding during migration.

The decline in food availability also represents one of the most serious challenges facing this species, particularly in light of rapid land-use changes and the degradation of natural habitats.

⁨ شم النسيم… والطبيعة في قلب عملنا

في شم النسيم، اليوم الذي يحتفل فيه المصريون بجمال الطبيعة منذ آلاف السنين، تستمر رحلة رصد الطيور المهاجرة من فوق جبل الجلالة، في مشهد يجمع بين الحركة والحياة.

ومع نسيم الربيع وألوانه التي تملأ الأجواء، يظل التذكير حاضرا بأن الطبيعة ليست مجرد لحظة جمال نمر بها، بل هي أساس التوازن والحياة التي نعيشها كل يوم.

في هذا اليوم المميز، يتجدد المعنى الحقيقي للاحتفال بالطبيعة… أن نحميها ونحافظ عليها لتبقى دائما مصدرا للحياة والجمال.

"3 أيام فوق الجبل… وتجربة لا تنسى مع الطيور المهاجرة"

خلال الفترة من 3 إلى 5 أبريل، نظمت الجمعية المصرية لحماية الطبيعة تدريب عملي مميز جدا في مرصد طيور الجلالة، جمع مجموعة رائعة من الشباب في تجربة ميدانية حقيقية عاشوا فيها تفاصيل هجرة الطيور لحظة بلحظة.

شهد التدريب حضور كلا من الدكتور شريف بهاء الدين والسفير أحمد رياض، واللي أفادوا الشباب بخبراتهم الكبيرة، وأرشدوهم خطوة بخطوة إزاي يتعرفوا على الطيور، ويميزوا بين أنواعها المختلفة، ويفهموا سلوكها وأسرار هجرتها.
كمان كان فريق الرصد والحماية من الجمعية المصرية لحماية الطبيعة موجود مع الشباب في الميدان خطوة بخطوة، سواء في التعريف بالأنواع أو التدريب العملي على الرصد والعد، وده خلّى التجربة واقعية ومليانة تعلم حقيقي.

اليوم الأول من التدريب كان استثنائي بمعنى الكلمة…لأول مرة من سنوات في الجلالة، شهدنا مرور أكثر من 117 ألف طائر مهاجر في يوم واحد، من حوالي 24 نوع مختلف.

كان مشهد مذهل، والشباب عاشوا تجربة حقيقية للهجرة قد لا تتكرر، ووقفوا يشوفوا عشرات الآلاف من الطيور بتمر قدام عينيهم ، وتعرفوا على الأنواع بشكل عملي.

التدريب خلص… بس التجربة والذكريات والمعرفة اللي اكتسبوها هتفضل معاهم لفترة طويلة.

كل الشكر لكل من ساهم في تنفيذ التدريب، ولكل من شارك بخبرته ووقته علشان نطلع بالتجربة بالشكل ده.

Three days on the mountain… an unforgettable experience with bird migration

From April 3 to 5, Nature Conservation Egypt (NCE) hosted a hands-on training at the Galala Bird Observatory, bringing together a group of passionate young participants for an immersive field experience following bird migration in real time.

The training was joined by Dr. Sherif Baha El Din and Ambassador Ahmed Riad, who shared their expertise with participants, guiding them on how to identify species, distinguish between birds, and better understand their behavior and migration patterns.

Our monitoring and conservation team was present throughout, supporting participants on the ground with species identification and practical training in observation and counting techniques, making the experience both engaging and impactful.

The first day was exceptional by all measures. For the first time in years at Galala, more than 117,000 migratory birds were recorded passing in a single day, representing around 24 species.

It was a remarkable sight. Participants witnessed migration on a scale that may not be easily repeated, observing tens of thousands of birds overhead while learning to identify them in real time.

While the training has come to an end, the experience, knowledge, and memories gained will stay with participants well beyond these three days.

حدث استثنائي في مرصد طيور الجلالة: رصد أكثر من 117 ألف طائر مهاجر في يوم واحد

سجّل فريق الرصد في مرصد طيور الجلالة يومًا استثنائيًا خلال موسم الهجرة الربيعية، حيث تم توثيق اكثر من 117 ألف طائر مهاجرًا في يوم واحد، تمثل 24 نوعا مختلفا من الطيور الحوامة والجارحة.

يُعد هذا الرقم من أعلى المعدلات اليومية التي سُجلت على الإطلاق في المرصد، ويعكس بوضوح الأهمية البيئية الفريدة لمنطقة العين السخنة وخليج السويس كأحد أهم ممرات هجرة الطيور على مسار الأخدود الأفريقي العظيم / البحر الأحمر.

وتوفر مثل هذه البيانات قيمة علمية كبيرة في فهم أنماط الهجرة الموسمية، وتوقيتات العبور، والتغيرات السنوية في أعداد الأنواع، كما تسهم في دعم جهود حماية الطيور المهاجرة وتقييم التأثيرات البيئية للمشاريع التنموية والبنية التحتية في المنطقة الحيوية.

ويمثل هذا الرصد الاستثنائي دليلًا علميًا إضافيًا على المكانة الدولية لمرصد طيور الجلالة، ويؤكد أهمية استمرار برامج الرصد طويلة الأمد لضمان حماية هذا الممر الهجري الحيوي وصون التنوع البيولوجي المرتبط به.

An Exceptional Event at Galala Bird Observatory: Over 117,000
Migratory Birds Recorded in a Single Day

The monitoring team at Galala Bird Observatory recorded an exceptional day during the spring migration season, documenting more than 117,000 migratory birds in a single day, representing 24 different species of soaring and raptor birds.

This figure stands among the highest daily counts ever recorded at the observatory and clearly reflects the unique ecological importance of the Ain Sokhna and Gulf of Suez area as one of the most significant bird migration corridors along the Great Rift Valley / Red Sea Flyway.

Such data provide substantial scientific value in understanding seasonal migration patterns, passage timing, and annual fluctuations in species numbers. They also contribute to ongoing efforts to protect migratory birds and support the assessment of the environmental impacts of development projects and infrastructure within this critical area.

This exceptional record provides further scientific evidence of the international significance of Galala Bird Observatory and underscores the importance of maintaining long-term monitoring programs to safeguard this vital migratory corridor and conserve its associated biodiversity.

إنقاذ بومة مهاجرة في الجلالة… والتعاون مستمر 🦉

في مشهد جديد يعكس أهمية الوعي بالحياة البرية، تلقّى فريق الحماية بلاغًا من طلاب وإدارة جامعة الجلالة بشأن بومة صغيرة وُجدت داخل الحرم الجامعي، في حالة إجهاد شديد وغير قادرة على الطيران.

تحرّك الفريق على الفور، وبعد فحص الحالة تبيّن أنها بومة أشجار مهاجرة (Scops Owl)، أنهكها التعب خلال رحلة هجرتها الموسمية.

وبعد فترة قصيرة من الراحة والرعاية، استعادت قوتها، وتم إطلاقها بأمان لتعود لتواصل رحلتها بنجاح.

هذه اللحظات تذكّرنا بأن كل طائر مهاجر يحمل حكاية رحلة طويلة عبر القارات، وأن تدخلًا بسيطًا في الوقت المناسب قد يصنع الفارق بين النجاة والفقد.

ومن الجدير بالذكر ان هذا النوع من البوم من الطيور الصغيرة المميزة، إذ يمتاز بريشه الرمادي والبني الذي يمنحه قدرة مذهلة على التمويه والاندماج مع لحاء الأشجار، إلى جانب عينيه الصفراوين الذهبيتين وصوته الليلي المميز.

نتوجه بخالص الشكر إلى جامعة الجلالة على سرعة الاستجابة وحرصها على التواصل، وهو تعاون يعكس وعيًا متزايدًا بأهمية حماية الحياة البرية.

ويأتي هذا التعاون امتدادا لشراكة مستمرة، سبق أن شهدت تنسيقا ناجحا في التعامل مع حالات إنقاذ أخرى، من بينها نسر الجريفون (Griffon Vulture) خلال أول موسم عدّ بمرصد الجلالة قبل أربع سنوات.

معًا… نمنح الطبيعة فرصة أخرى لتواصل رحلتها

Rescuing a Migratory Owl at Galala… Continuing Collaboration 🦉

In another moment that reflects the importance of wildlife awareness, the conservation team received a report from students and the administration of جامعة الجلالة - Galala University about a small owl found on campus in a state of severe exhaustion and unable to fly.

The team responded immediately, and after examining the bird, it was identified as a migratory Scops Owl, fatigued from its seasonal migration journey.

After a short period of rest and care, the owl regained its strength and was safely released to continue its journey successfully.

Moments like these remind us that every migratory bird carries the story of a long journey across continents, and that a simple intervention at the right time can make the difference between survival and loss.

It is worth noting that this species is one of the most remarkable small owls, distinguished by its grey and brown plumage that provides exceptional camouflage against tree bark, along with its striking golden-yellow eyes and distinctive nocturnal call.

We extend our sincere thanks to Galala University for its quick response and commitment to communication, reflecting a growing awareness of the importance of wildlife protection.

This collaboration builds on an ongoing partnership that has already seen successful coordination in previous rescue cases, including a Griffon Vulture during the first counting season at the Galala Bird Observatory four years ago.

مقال رائع بيجسّد تجربة استثنائية… مش بس في رصد الطيور، لكن في معنى أعمق للارتباط بالطبيعة

First Day in the Field

After completing the theoretical training, our trainees joined the team on the mountain for the first day of their practical training at the Galala Bird Observatory.

The conditions were not the easiest. Strong winds and challenging weather tested everyone on the ridge, but the team’s enthusiasm and readiness to learn made the day truly rewarding. Field training is where theory meets practice—where identification skills are sharpened, monitoring techniques are applied, and the rhythm of migration is experienced in real time.

Standing on the mountain, scanning the skies together, the trainees began their first steps in the world of raptor monitoring. Every passing silhouette became a lesson, every observation an opportunity to learn.

This is how new observers are shaped—through patience, curiosity, and long hours under the open sky.

The season has begun, and the mountain is already full of stories waiting to unfold.

أول يوم في الميدان

بعد انتهاء الجزء النظري من التدريب، انضم المتدربون إلى فريق المرصد على الجبل لبدء أول يوم من التدريب العملي في مرصد طيور الجلالة.

الظروف ماكنتش سهلة. الرياح كانت قوية والتغيرات الجوية كانت تحدي لكل الناس على قمة الجبل، لكن حماس المتدربين واستعدادهم للتعلم جعل من اليوم تجربة مميزة. التدريب الميداني هو اللحظة اللي بتتحول فيها المعرفة النظرية إلى ممارسة حقيقية، وبتتطور مهارات التعريف بالطيور وتُطبق أساليب الرصد والعدّ في قلب مسار الهجرة.

على الجبل، وعينينا للسماء، بدأ المتدربون أولى خطواتهم في عالم رصد الطيور الجارحة. كل طائر درس جديد، وكل رصد فرصة للتعلم.

هنا بنكون جيل جديد من المراقبين؛ بالصبر، والفضول، وساعات طويلة تحت السما المفتوحة.

الموسم بدأ، وقصص الهجرة بدأت تتكشف.
