Still Birth

This poor jenny donkey gave birth to a dead foetus which led to her getting an infection in her uterus.
To kill all the bacteria, her uterus will be flushed regularly over the next ten days. Antibiotics are included in the liquid used for flushing and additionally she will be provided daily antibiotics via injections.

Guarded Prognosis

This poor stallion is suffering from a navicular infection caused by a nail that was imbedded in his hind hoof.

The navicular bone is located within the heel and works closely with the surrounding tendons and ligaments.

Dr. Hana and Dr. Pola treat the horse with antibiotic and make sure
that any discharge from the wound is cleaned.

If this lad cannot combat the infection, the healing prognosis is not good as
there will be permanent damage to the joint.

A Good Ending

This neglected and injured male cat was found by a foreign resident living in Luxor.

The poor cat had a nasty wound on his right front leg.
Anyone who has a cat will know the value of wrapping them in a towel for treatment. This allowed the team to clean and dress the wound.

Despite his ordeal the cat is a friendly chap and has decided that the lady who found him will now be his person.

He has moved in with her. 😽

Some of our current inpatients.

The chestnut foal enjoying a smooch around our paddocks.
Cloudy is happy to go on a lunch date with inpatient Molly.

In the isolation area we have a mare with her cute foal who has a respiratory problem.

The donkey with the injury above the eye lid is recovering in the fresh air and enjoys a roll around........

Tree Trouble

This horse was brought to our British charity hospital by his owner who discovered two deep wounds on his hind legs.

According to his owner, the horse was standing near a tree with a broken branch
which he thinks he accidently got caught up in and panicked which caused the injuries.

A tail bandage was applied to prevent the hair from getting stuck to the wounds, then Dr. Hana applied tension realising sutures.

Not all of the wound can be stitched as its in area where the suture's will come out as the horse moves about.

Small Animal Clinic

This white male cat fell from the balcony on the 1st floor. The right front paw is injured, and the poor cat can't put weight on it.
An x-ray revealed fractures.
Dr. Assma and Dr. Hossam discussed the treatment plan.
As the fracture is in an area that cannot have a cast on it, the bone should heal on its own.
The cat received pain medication from one of our Egyptian vet students and the owner will bring him back in 10 days for a progress check.

Double Flush!

These two mares have been admitted as they both have nasty abscesses on their necks.
Dr. Pola and Dr. Hossam have been draining and flushing the infections out as well as providing daily medication.
