Reflection on Mind, Heart, Language & Love
From my studies in Psycholinguistics, I discovered a profound truth about the human body: every cell renews itself every five years, except for two extraordinary types—neuronal cells (found in the brain and nerves, responsible for memory, thinking, and language) and heart cells. Fascinatingly, the heart contains neural cells, suggesting it has its own form of intelligence and capacity for "thinking."
This revelation bridges the gap between thinking with the mind and feeling with the heart, as both possess sensory and neural cells that regulate perception and understanding.
The human body is nothing short of extraordinary. Memories, skills, and emotions are not erased by the renewal or replacement of cells. Instead, they remain deeply rooted within us, preserved by the lasting neural structures of the brain and heart. While we may perceive the fading of memories or skills, such as language acquisition, as their loss, they do not disappear. These abilities and emotions persist, waiting to be rediscovered, until the brain and heart cease to function.
This resilience of our memories and abilities highlights the brilliance of the human design. Moreover, learning new languages can further enhance this brilliance. It has been shown to heal nerve damage, stimulate neurotransmitters, and improve memory skills and cognitive capacity—not only in the brain but also in the heart. Experts even recommend language learning as a treatment for memory loss, a natural antidepressant, and an anti-aging tool.
