The United Nations General Assembly selected March 3 as World Wildlife Day to coincide with the adoption of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES). In its resolution, the General Assembly reaffirmed “the intrinsic value of wildlife and its various contributions, including ecological, genetic, social, economic, scientific, educational, cultural,
recreational and aesthetic, to sustainable development and human well-being, and recognized the important role of CITES in ensuring that international trade does not threaten the species’ survival”. - بالإشارة الي قرار الدول الأطراف رقم 004 / 2014، أطلقت أمانة السايتس الشعار الذي تم تصميمه للأحتفال باليوم والذي تم الإعلان عنه في إجتماع الجمعية العامة للأمم المتحدة، وترحب أمانة السايتس بإستخدام هذا الشعار من جانب الدول والمنظمات والأفراد والمهتمين في إحتفالاتهم باليوم العالمي الأول للأحياء البرية (3 مارس من كل عام )
