Rivers is an English-language boarding high school in Cairo providing affordable Christian education for sojourner children. Into the lives of these children Rivers brings a vision of holistic educatio
n that is both academic and vocational. Our children, like Abraham, have left their country of birth and do not know the land to which they are going. The Rivers student receives, but then gives back through community service, a tangible sign of a changed life as children live out faith in heart, mind, soul and body. As we guide better prepared children through a rigorous high school program, Rivers also helps educationally disadvantaged or physically disadvantaged children make up for lost time. These children often have moved schools many times or missed years of school. Through special support these newer students may work hard, catch up and merge into the educational river of high school. For unaccompanied minors, the most at-risk children in Egypt, we seek tuition and boarding facilities to give nurturing care. We value Arabic, the home language of our students and the heart language of Egypt our host. We pursue a vision of schools and community centers which will be fountains that are diverse socially, healthy emotionally, safe physically and life-giving spiritually for children, their families and the wider community. Education is provided for the common good. Rivers is a not-for-profit charity, a unique vision in Egypt, under an international board fostering innovation, independence, professionalism and accountability.
