We are officially in motion! ConstructX has kicked off as the first-of-its-kind integrated experience bridging the gap between engineering and entrepreneurship in Egypt.
In a partnership between the Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Competitiveness Center at Nile University (IECC) and the EDECS Foundation for Sustainable Development, we are preparing the next generation of industry leaders to disrupt the construction sector.
The kickoff day opened with inspiring insights into innovation and the future of the industry from keynote speakers Ahmed Saleh, Executive Director of IECC, Ayman El Badawy, CEO of EDECS Foundation, and Dr. Sherif Abdelsalam, Director of the Civil and Construction Engineering School at Nile University This was followed immediately by a deep-dive Industry Briefing Session led by Dr Ayman El Hekea Systems Development Manager and Coordinator for Dorra Academy to set the stage for the challenge ahead.
Now, our ambitious participants are diving headfirst into three crucial tracks designed to solve real-world industry problems.
In Track 1, Construction Waste Valorization, led by Dr. Emad Bakhoum, teams are focusing on turning waste into valuable materials.
In Track 2, Smart Cities & Utilities, led by Dr. Nouran Tawfik, the focus shifts to optimizing urban living and infrastructure through smart technologies.
Finally, in Track 3, Construction Efficiency, also led by Dr. Emad Bakhoum, participants are tackling operational bottlenecks to eliminate project delays, overhead costs, and material waste.
With a total prize pool of 150,000 EGP on the line, these participants are being guided by a select group of academics and industry mentors to transform their engineering knowledge into applicable, real-world solutions that will shape the future of Egypt's construction sector.
