“Learning Across Borders: Youth Voices on Dialogue & Building Peace” was the theme of the roundtable discussion organized by the Cairo International Center for Conflict Resolution, Peacekeeping and Peacebuilding (CCCPA) on May 16, 2026, in which we were pleased to participate

The discussion brought together alumni of CCCPA’s UST Program alongside Lukas Kupfernagel, our Country Officer for MENA at the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, creating a valuable platform to exchange perspectives on peacebuilding, dialogue, youth engagement, and international cooperation, while also bringing German expertise and perspectives into the discussion.

A sincere thank you to CCCPA for the invitation and for hosting such a meaningful and engaging discussion.

On April 22, 2026, we jointly organized an event with the El Sadat Association for Social Development and Welfare at the Cairo Marriott Hotel in Zamalek, Cairo, titled:
“Local Community Development: Between National Vision and Citizen Needs.”

The event was opened together with Mr. Mohamed Anwar El-Sadat (Chairman of the El Sadat Association). Speakers included Maj. Gen. Dr. Reda Farhat (Vice President of El Moatamar Party, Professor of Political Science, and former Governor of Alexandria and Qalyubia) and Dr. Mohamed Attia El-Fayoumi (Member of Parliament and member of the Local Administration Committee). The session was moderated by Ms. Fatima Selim.

The discussion focused on key issues of local development, including the role of Vision 2030 in addressing urgent local challenges, identifying and prioritizing real citizen needs, and enhancing the involvement of NGOs and the private sector. It also explored how citizens can actively participate as partners in development processes, how transparent communication channels between government institutions and society can be strengthened, and how locally driven, resource-based solutions can be developed.

The event concluded with a joint lunch. Many thanks to all speakers and participants for the engaging discussion and valuable exchange.

The final day featured contributions from youth and experts, followed by closing remarks, a summary of key discussions, and the development of practical recommendations to be presented to relevant authorities.

Overall, the discussions focused on Egypt’s current economic challenges within the context of regional and global conflicts, as well as future prospects and policy solutions.

On March 13, 2026, we had the great pleasure of once again welcoming a German delegation led by Dr. Günther Beckstein, former Minister-President of Bavaria, to our office.

Together with the Hanns Seidel Foundation Egypt, a lecture followed by a discussion was held on the current developments in the Middle East. The discussion focused on key political and societal dynamics in the region and their potential implications for regional stability.

This was followed by a visit to the Coptic Orthodox St. Mark’s Cathedral, where we had the special honor of being received by His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, Pope of the Coptic Orthodox Church. We sincerely thank him for the warm welcome and the opportunity for a valuable exchange.

Such meetings highlight the importance of dialogue and international exchange. We look forward to continuing the dialogue and to future encounters.
