GebRaa GebRaa is a social enterprise aiming to protect the traditional Egyptian crafts at risk. aiming to protect the traditional Egyptian crafts at risk.

GebRaa is a social enterprise located at 80 El Kasr El Aini St, Garden city, third floor #6, downtown Cairo. GebRaa helps Egyptian marginalized artisans find new markets for their threatened crafts, so they would feel economically, socially empowered & appreciated. GebRaa works to promote succession in disappearing crafts by offering training to artisans, aiming to inspire pride in their cultural

heritage, and supporting product development to match the needs of socially conscious local and international customers striving for unique production.
60% of profits generated by GebRaa would go to fund activities of Karama NGO(under construction) for community development and heritage preservation. GebRaa is a 2011 winner of SEED initiative (UNDP, UNEP and IUCN) and a 2013 winner of Development Marketplace (ILO,World Bank among others). Our website is still under renovation

📸Capturing moments from our Embroidery Motifs Design Competition – Phase 2 Orientation Session, proudly funded by ExxonMobil Egypt.

The session started with an opening speech by Ms. Rania Salah, Founder of Karama and Managing Director of GebRaa.

We were honored to welcome Mrs. Amira Kamel from Stabl Antar Dreams Foundation, who generously shared her expertise and answered the participants’ questions.

✨ The session also featured a special talk titled “Secrets of Egyptian Animals” by Ms. Dohaa El Wazir, offering an inspiring journey into Egypt’s
rich heritage and creativity for designers.

Unleash your creativity and reimagine the art of embroidery! We’re looking for innovative motif designs to be embroidered on garments.

👥 Who Can Apply?

Designers, artists, and students of arts and design.

📌 How It Works

*After applying and being accepted, you’ll be invited to an orientation session to guide your creative process.
*You will receive the garment design, style, and flat drawing. Your task is to create embroidery motifs/illustrations and apply them graphically to the garment.
*The women of Istabl 3antar Dreams Foundation will be trained in embroidery, sewing, and pattern making to bring your designs to life.
*All awarded designs will become the exclusive property of GebRaa, and a contract will be signed to confirm this

📌About Mrs. Shosha Kamal Design House

Shosha is an Egyptian designer and artist known for her work inspired by ancient Egyptian heritage. She is dedicated to reviving Egypt’s cultural legacy and presenting it in a modern context through design
-Her work gained early international recognition Her Wing Sofa was named the Best Sofa Design Worldwide in 2016 by the International Product Design Awards in London
‏ She won the A’ Design Award for three consecutive years (2014, 2015, 2016) in Milan, and was titled a “Design Hero” in 2016
‏ In 2017, she was honored by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi at the Youth Conference in Alexandria for her contributions to Egyptian heritage
‏ One of her chairs was gifted to the First Lady of the United States, and is now part of the White House furniture collection
‏ Her designs have reached homes in over 8 countries

‏In 2013, Shosha founded a new discipline called Fundraising Design, which supports NGOs in raising donations through design She also launched Annure, a lighting brand that helps bring light to African homes Her work spans various design fields, always with the goal of using design to serve humanity

We are delighted to introduce Mrs. Aida Zayed as a jury member for Karama Foundation's upcoming Embroidery Motifs Design Competition celebrating the rich tradition of Egyptian embroidery clothing, this competition is powered by GebRaa and supported by ExxonMobilEgypt.

📌About Mrs. Aida Zayed is a seasoned expert in Fashion and Design, with a distinguished career in both the public and private sectors. She is playing a pivotal role in growing her family business as the n Executive Manager of Miss Paris Company and stores for Ready Made Garments . She also managed MONY, her own well-established fashion brand since 2000- 2010.

Previously 2010- 2025, Mrs. Zayed held leadership roles at the Fashion and Design Center (FDC) and the Jewellery Technology and Creative Industries Center – MTI, where she contributed significantly to the development of Egypt’s design ecosystem..
She also served as the Manager of the Leather Technology Center- MTI since 2014 .
Mrs. Zayed is also a Board Member at Kafr El Dawar Spinning and Weaving Company, under the Ministry of Public Business Sector.

📌 About Ms. Yara Yassin
Yara Yassin is an Egyptian product designer, social entrepreneur, and co-founder of Up-fuse, a sustainable brand that transforms plastic bags into eco-friendly products.
She studied between Egypt and Germany and worked on women empowerment projects in Upper Egypt.
Since 2015, Up-fuse has supported over 80 artisan women from Cairo’s “Garbage City” and upcycled more than 1.3 million plastic bags.
Yara has been recognized by the UN Environment and the World Bank for her contributions to sustainability and social innovation.
