What a Complicated Name!
Don’t worry, you’re not the only one thinking it! But here’s our story...
We are a new crew of environmental professionals hitting the road around Egypt to manage a project that was known as (something too long and complicated...) that launched in 2011. Beyond habitat and wildlife preservation, the project is about financially sustaining protected areas in Egypt. So in order to make things simpler we decided, after many many arguments, sweat, tears, emails, phone calls, and a ton of coffee later, to bring the name down to: Egypt’s Protected Areas Self-Financing Project. And hey! to make things even simpler; we go by EPASP.
We are passionate about Egypt’s most wondrous nature destinations, and we work hard on the development and the conservation of our sacred natural sites. We now come to the world of the internets to make our work visible. In two years time, we want to see all Mahmeyat in Egypt recognized not only for their historical or iconic landscapes, but also for their local communities, their cultures, and the services they provide. This is what we aim to do. *fingers crossed*
