The Federation of Egyptian Youth NGOs is considered a non-governmental umbrella and hub of Egyptian youth-led NGOs and NGOs working in the area of youth development. It currently represents 12 Egyptian youth organisations from different Egyptian cities and governorates and it aims to eventually incorporate all youth related NGOs in Egypt. BRIEF HISTORY
The idea to found the Federation of Egyptian
Youth NGOs was born during a workshop called “Day of Youth”, organised by the Goethe Institute in Cairo in 2004. This event brought together leaders of 25 Egyptian NGOs working in youth development and youth initiatives and gave them the opportunity to network for the very first time. Until the workshop was repeated the following year, the leaders had brainstormed about establishing an umbrella organisation for all youth-led non-governmental organisations in Egypt working on youth development issues which could represent the different NGOs and facilitate co-operation.
