Terre des hommes - Egypt Tdh is a Swiss NGO for child and youth protection. Working in Egypt since 1983 to build better future

Since 1983, Tdh Egypt works in collaboration with recognized national and local partners to provide support and protection to the most vulnerable children, youth, their families and their communities, with particular focus on refugee/migrant children and youth, children in contact and in conflict with the law and children with functional difficulties. Tdh provides a variety of services and activit

ies in Greater Cairo and across nine governorates in Egypt, with innovative approaches and sustainable solutions to enhance the resilience and wellbeing of the children and youth and help them to build a better future. The interventions are including mental health and psychosocial support, case management, cash assistance, community mobilization, youth empowerment and capacity building to strengthen child protection systems and ensure a protective child-friendly environment. All Tdh Egypt projects are implemented under the supervision of the Egyptian Ministry of Social Solidarity.

في إطار برنامج التمويل التأسيسي والدعم العيني ضمن مشروع الحماية المجتمعية، الممول من UNHCR والمنفذ من قبل هيئة تير دي زوم في مصر، تم تنظيم تدريب لبناء القدرات على مدار 4 أيام، بهدف تعزيز قدرات منظمات وجمعيات المجتمع المدني وتمكينها من تصميم وتنفيذ مبادرات فعالة في مجالي الحماية المجتمعية والتماسك الاجتماعي.

جمع التدريب 10 منظمات و 5 جمعيات، حيث قدم فريق المشروع جلسات مكثفة تناولت موضوعات رئيسية مثل التخطيط، جمع التمويل، كتابة المقترحات، المتابعة والتقييم والمساءلة والتعلم، إلى جانب إعداد التقارير.

كما ساهم فريق الحماية المجتمعية التابع لـ UNHCR في تيسير جلسات حول إدماج الأشخاص ذوي الاحتياجات الخاصة، وتعزيز التماسك الاجتماعي وتبادل المعلومات. حيث اعتمد التدريب على نهج تفاعلي يجمع بين الجانب النظري والتطبيق العملي، بما يضمن تجربة تعلم فعالة ومؤثرة.

وعقب انتهاء التدريب، قدمت المنظمات المشاركة مقترحاتها إلى لجنة التقييم الممثلة في تير دي زوم وUNHCR، حيث تم اختيار 4 منظمات للحصول على الدعم العيني، وجمعيتين للحصول على التمويل التأسيسي لتنفيذ أنشطة تغطي مجالات التماسك المجتمعي، الحماية المجتمعية، الدعم النفسي والاجتماعي، والخدمات المقدمة للأشخاص ذوي الاحتياجات الخاصة.

As part of the seed fund and material support program under the Community-Based Protection project, funded by UNHCR and implemented by Terre des hommes in Egypt, a four-day capacity building training was conducted to strengthen the capacities of civil society organizations and associations, enabling them to design and implement effective initiatives in community-based protection and social cohesion.

The training brought together representatives of 10 organizations and 5 Civil Development Associations. Tdh project team delivered sessions covering key topics such as planning, fundraising, proposal writing, monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning (MEAL), as well as report writing.

In addition, the CBP-UNHCR team facilitated sessions on the inclusion of persons with specific needs, social cohesion, and information sharing. The training adopted an interactive approach that combined theoretical knowledge with practical application, ensuring an effective and impactful learning experience.

Following the training, participating organizations submitted their proposals to a selection committee represented by UNHCR and Terre des hommes. 4 organizations were selected to receive material support, and 2 associations were awarded seed funding to implement activities addressing community cohesion, community-based protection (CBP), psychosocial support, and services for persons with specific needs.

From different countries, cultures, and lived experiences, youth are coming together in Alexandria to build something new, one skill, one connection, and one opportunity at a time.

Every morning starts with determination: a fresh beginning, a willingness to learn, and a step into a digital learning space that has become much more than just a place to study. Here, young people log into Coursera, exploring courses in digital skills, data analysis, English, and essential learning skills, unlocking opportunities that once felt out of reach.

Through the Community-Based Protection project supported by UNHCR and implemented by Terre des hommes, youth from different backgrounds come together to share stories, reflect on their journeys, and rebuild a sense of community. From cultural exchange activities to cinema clubs, these moments create opportunities to connect, learn from one another, and grow together.

Moments of pride for Terre des hommes Egypt ❤️

In 2024, we launched an Innovation Campaign that brought together staff and community members to co-create solutions for the most pressing challenges facing refugee communities in Egypt. One issue stood out: migrant and displaced youth face significant barriers in accessing opportunities that match their potential and support them to become self-reliant.

Through a structured Design Thinking process; Empathy, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test, participants worked over two months to transform challenges into real solutions. 10 innovators completed the journey, developing impactful ideas grounded in real community needs.

One of these ideas was “The Bridge” a solution designed to improve access to opportunities for refugee youth that match their skills.

In 2025, this journey reached a new milestone. The Bridge was selected as one of the laureates of the Terre des hommes Innovation Fund 2025, earning an intensive 5-day Innovation Bootcamp in Cairo.

During the bootcamp, guided by Nathalie Nyffeler, Responsible Innovation & Entrepreneurial Professor HES and Daniel Loureiro, Tdh Head ICT4D & Data Science, the team went through a hands-on Design Sprint, refining their idea, stress-testing assumptions, and ensuring the solution is practical, safe, and rooted in “Do No Harm” principles. They tested a real prototype with refugee youth and seeing the solution to help them better understand their pathways to better opportunities.

Today, we are incredibly proud.. What started as an idea in our local innovation campaign is now a validated solution with real potential for impact.

This is only the beginning. Our team is now working to bring “The Bridge” to life, and we will be standing with them every step of the way, supporting their journey until this solution becomes a reality for the youth who need it most.

Because for Tdh, innovation doesn’t end with ideas.. It turns into action, it creates opportunities, it changes lives. 😊

لحظات فخر لتير دي زوم مصر

في عام 2024، أطلقنا حملة الإبداع التي جمعت بين موظفي المنظمة وأفراد من المجتمع لتصميم حلول مشتركة لأبرز التحديات التي تواجه مجتمعات اللاجئين في مصر. وكان هناك تحد واضح برز بقوة: يواجه الشباب المهاجرون والنازحون صعوبات كبيرة في الوصول إلى الفرص التي تتناسب مع إمكاناتهم ويساعدهم على تحقيق الاعتماد على الذات.

ومن خلال ورش عمل منظمة قائمة على منهجية التفكير التصميمي؛ التعاطف، التعريف، توليد الأفكار، النمذجة الأولية، والاختبار، عمل المشاركون على مدار شهرين لتحويل التحديات إلى حلول واقعية. وقد أكمل 10 مبدعين هذه الرحلة، مطورين أفكارًا مؤثرة تنطلق من احتياجات المجتمع الحقيقية.

وكانت إحدى هذه الأفكار هي "الجسر" وهو حل يهدف إلى تحسين وصول الشباب اللاجئ إلى الفرص التي تتناسب مع مهاراتهم.

وفي عام 2025، وصلت هذه الرحلة إلى محطة جديدة؛ حيث تم اختيار "الجسر" كأحد المشاريع الفائزة بتمويل الابداع بالمنظمة، مما أتاح للفريق المشاركة في معسكر مكثف للإبداع لمدة خمسة أيام في القاهرة.

وخلال المعسكر، وبإشراف ناتالي نيفلر، أستاذة ومسؤولة الابتكار وريادة الأعمال، ودانيال لوريرو، رئيس قسم تكنولوجيا المعلومات للتنمية وعلوم البيانات في تير دي زوم، خاض الفريق تجربة عملية مكثفة ضمن منهجية تصميم وتسريع الحلول، حيث قاموا بتطوير فكرتهم، واختبار فروضها، والتأكد من أن الحل عملي وآمن ويرتكز على مبدأ عدم الإضرار. كما قاموا باختبار نموذج أولي حقيقي مع شباب لاجئين، مما ساعدهم على فهم مساراتهم نحو فرص أفضل.

اليوم، نشعر بفخر كبير. ما بدأ كفكرة ضمن حملة الابتكار المحلية أصبح الآن حلاً تم التحقق من جدواه ويحمل إمكانات حقيقية لإحداث أثر ملموس.

وهذه ليست سوى البداية. يعمل فريقنا حاليًا على تحويل "الجسر" إلى واقع، وسنظل داعمين لهم في كل خطوة، حتى تصبح هذه المبادرة فرصة حقيقية للشباب الذين هم في أمس الحاجة إليها.
لأن الابتكار في تير دي زوم لا يتوقف عند حدود الفكرة.. بل يتحول إلى عمل، ويصنع فرصًا، ويُغيّر حياة. 😊

في ختام مشروع حماية الممول من سويسرا، والمنفذ من قبل هيئة تير دي زوم مصر، سعدنا باستضافة فعاليات التخرج في أكثر من منطقة بالقاهرة الكبرى; المعادي، فيصل، حلمية الزيتون، أكتوبر، للاحتفال بأكثر من 350 شابًا وشابة الذين أكملوا تدريباتهم في الدورات الرقمية، بما في ذلك: تحليل البيانات، والتسويق الرقمي، وتصميم المواقع الإلكترونية، والبرمجة، والتصميم الجرافيكي، وغيرها.

لم تقتصر رحلة المشاركين في البرنامج على الدورات الرقمية فحسب، بل شاركوا في جلسات التوجيه المهني، وتدريبات المهارات الحياتية، ومبادرات يقودها الشباب لخدمة مجتمعاتهم، مما ساعدهم على بناء الثقة، والاستعداد لحياتهم المهنية، وفتح فرص عمل جديدة أمامهم.
تضمنت فعاليات التخرج حفلًا لتكريم المشاركين تقديرًا لجهودهم، إلى جانب عرض لفرقة موسيقية، في أجواء ممتعة يسودها التفاهم والتعاون بين الشباب من مختلف الجنسيات.

فعاليات التخرج هذه هي ختام مشروع حماية الذي استمر لمدة ثلاث سنوات، عمل خلالها على تمكين الشباب وإعدادهم لسوق العمل من خلال تزويدهم بالمهارات الرقمية والمهارات اللازمة للتوظيف، نختم المشروع ونحن نحمل قدرًا كبيرًا من الفخر، ونثق أن ما بدأ هنا سيستمر معهم في خطواتهم القادمة نحو مستقبل واعد ومليء بالإنجازات.

At the conclusion of the Hemaya Project, Funded by Switzerland and implemented by Terre des hommes in Egypt, we were pleased to host graduation events in different areas in Greater Cairo (Maadi, Faisal, Helmeya El-Zeitoun, October) to celebrate more than 350 young people who completed their training in digital courses, including: data analysis, digital marketing, web design, programming, graphic design, and more.

The participants’ journey in the project was not limited to digital courses only, they also took part in career coaching sessions, life skills trainings, and youth-led initiatives serving their communities, which helped them promote their confidence, navigate their professional paths, and open up new job opportunities.
The graduation events included a ceremony to honor the participants in appreciation of their great efforts. along with a music band show in a joyful atmosphere filled with understanding and cooperation among youth from diverse backgrounds.

The graduation events mark the closure of the Hemaya Project, which lasted for three years and worked to empower youth and prepare them for the labor market by equipping them with digital and employability skills. We close the project with immense pride, confident that this is only the beginning of many success stories yet to come.

في إطار أنشطة معرض التوظيف الذي استضافته هيئة تير دي زوم – أونلاين، نُظمت فعالية "أيام الهاكاثون" تحت شعار "التشبيك من أجل المستقبل"، وهي حدث تقني تنافسي جمع 52 من الشباب المبرمجين والمصممين والمبتكرين للعمل معًا ضمن فرق، بهدف تطوير نماذج أولية، وتبادل الأفكار، وابتكار حلول تدعم مسارات التعلم الذاتي والتعلم عن بُعد.

تم تقسيم الشباب المشاركين إلى 7 مجموعات، وتشكيل لجنة متخصصة لتقييم الأفكار المقدمة، بمشاركة خبراء في مجال التكنولوجيا الرقمية لضمان جودة عملية التقييم. وفي ختام الفعالية، تم تكريم الفريقين الفائزين بالمركزين الأول والثاني بهدايا رمزية، تقديرًا لإبداعهم وجهودهم المتميزة.

نُظمت الفعالية بالتعاون مع شركة Mindshift، وذلك ضمن أنشطة مشروع حماية الممول من سويسرا.

As part of the job fair activities hosted by Terre des hommes – online, the "Hackathon Days" event was organized under the slogan "Networking for the Future." It is a competitive technical event with the participation of 52 youth programmers, designers, and innovators to work collaboratively in teams, with the aim of developing prototypes, exchanging ideas, and creating innovative solutions that support self-learning and remote learning pathways.

The participating youth were divided into 7 groups, and a specialized committee was formed to evaluate the submitted ideas, with the participation of experts in the field of digital technology to ensure the quality of the evaluation process.
At the end of the event, the teams that won first and second place were honored with symbolic gifts in recognition of their creativity and outstanding efforts.

This event was organized in cooperation with Mindshift company, as part of the activities of the Hemaya project, Funded by Switzerland.

تهدف المنحة إلى:
تمكين المنظمات لتعزيز إدماج الأشخاص ذوي الاحتياجات الخاصة.
تحسين خدمات الدعم النفسي والاجتماعي.
تعزيز التماسك المجتمعي بين مجتمعات اللاجئين والمجتمعات المضيفة.

الجمعيات الأهلية المصرية.

Within the framework of the Community-Based Protection project funded by UNHCR and implemented by Terre des hommes Egypt, we announce the launch of a new seed fund opportunity dedicated to civil society associations and refugee-led organizations in Greater Cairo and Alexandria, so that together we can continue to strengthen the inclusion of persons with specific needs and support refugee communities in Egypt.
The grant aims to:
Empower organizations to enhance the inclusion of persons with specific needs.
Improve psychosocial support services.
Strengthen social cohesion between refugee communities and host communities.
Who is the grant targeting?
Egyptian civil society associations.
Refugee-led organizations, including – but not limited to – traditional leadership structures, self-management structures, voluntary initiatives, women and youth groups, and persons with disabilities interested in implementing community-based protection activities and providing services to refugee and host communities in Egypt.
Grant value: Up to 200,000 Egyptian pounds or material support of the same value.
Implementation period: During 2026.
Selection mechanism: Selection will be based on the evaluation of the technical proposals and their alignment with the project objectives.
Location: Greater Cairo and Alexandria.

انطلاق برنامج الشباب التابع لمشروع الحماية المجتمعية بالقاهرة الكبرى الذي تنفذه هيئة تير دي زوم بتمويل من المفوضية السامية للأمم المتحدة لشؤون اللاجئين.

Building bridges, fostering understanding, and creating shared spaces for dialogue 🤝

Through the Social Cohesion Forum, implemented under the Community-Based Protection Project and funded by UNHCR, diverse stakeholders came together to strengthen connections between refugees and host communities in Egypt.

From meaningful discussions and exchange of experiences to interactive activities bringing youth from different backgrounds together, the forum highlighted one key message:
Social cohesion is a shared responsibility.

By promoting cultural understanding, addressing challenges, and encouraging collaboration across government entities, civil society, and communities, we can move closer to a society where everyone feels safe, accepted, and connected.

تشرفنا اليوم باستقبال سعادة ساشو بولدسنيك، سفير سلوفينيا في مصر، لتوقيع الاتفاقية الرسمية لتمويل مشروع جديد سيتم تنفيذه من قبل منظمة تير دي زوم بالتعاون مع وزارة التضامن الاجتماعي، بعنوان:
"إعادة دمج الأطفال اجتماعيًا من خلال أنشطة تراعي النوع الاجتماعي وتتحلى بالمسؤولية البيئية."

تمثل هذه الشراكة خطوة استراتيجية ضمن برنامجنا الوصول إلى العدالة، وتهدف إلى دعم الأطفال في نزاع مع القانون في مصر، وتعزيز رحلتهم لإعادة التأهيل، وتشجيع إدماجهم الآمن داخل المجتمع.

We were honored to welcome His Excellency Sašo Podlesnik, Ambassador of Slovenia to Egypt, today for the official signing of the funding agreement for a new project to be implemented by Terre des hommes in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Solidarity, entitled:
“Social Reintegration of Children through Gender-Sensitive and Environmentally Responsible Activities.”

انطلاق برنامج الشباب التابع لمشروع الحماية المجتمعية الذي تنفذه هيئة تير دى زوم بتمويل من المفوضية السامية لشؤون اللاجئين في الإسكندرية ودمياط.

يمنحك البرنامج فرصة لتطوير مهاراتك والانضمام الى سوق العمل من خلال:
