Animal Rights Awareness (ARA) is a community service club that was founded in AUC in 2017. ARA aims to make a difference in the community, by increasing public awareness of animal welfare in Egypt and reducing cruelty towards animals. This is done by various projects, which include cats on campus, awareness campaigns, and supporting animal shelters. Unfortunately, animal’s basic rights are often neglected in Egypt and not taken into consideration. This is due to the fact that the majority of people are not well educated about the issue and there are no firm laws in Egypt against animal cruelty. Accordingly, cases that incorporate burying and drowning animals alive, beating them up, poisoning them, and shooting them remain unnoticed. However, with passion, dedication, and commitment, ARA strives to eliminate the silence screams of many animals that are subjected to abuse in different circumstances. As Gandhi once said “The greatness of a nation can be judged by the way its animals are treated”
However, all this will not be done without your help. Together we can make a difference!
