We are thrilled to celebrate a remarkable achievement by five of our Tomorrow’s Leaders students, who, representing AUC, claimed 1st place at the IMA Middle East Student Case Competition 2026, among 100 teams.

What distinguished their work was a sophisticated, data-driven approach that leveraged forecasting, statistical analysis, and profitability modeling to ensure every recommendation was grounded in evidence, a testament to their analytical rigor and teamwork.

A special thank you to Dr. Mohamed Basuony, Chair of the Department of Accounting, for advising and supporting the team throughout the competition. 🙏

Congratulations to: Adam Mohamed Aberbach, Haitham Aloqab, Malik Gassar, Mohammad Yahya Hammoudeh, and Youcef Rabehi
We couldn’t be prouder. Well done! 👏

The Tomorrow’s Leaders Annual Symposium 2026: Resilience in the Age of Turbulence came to a powerful close , two days of rigorous dialogue, critical inquiry, and a shared commitment to turning knowledge into action.
Our final day brought three compelling panels to the table:
🔹 Building Sustainability Ecosystems within the MENA region context: Research into Resilient Action. Exploring how resilient ecosystems are built through collaboration across stakeholders, communities, and institutions.

Youth Love Egypt (YLE) Foundation

Consultant, CGIAR

Dr. Hania Sholkamy, Associate Professor, Social Research Center, AUC
Dr. Mohamed ElKaramany, Professor of Public Policy, AUC
Mr. Mohsen Sarhan, CEO, Egyptian Food Bank.
In the afternoon, our Art Workshop, led by local artist Mohsen ElAshry, provided participants with a creative space to reflect and express, offering a meaningful pause between the day’s intense conversations. 🎨

We closed with our Closing Ceremony: “Our Pathways Forward,” featuring Dr. Ehaab D. Abdou from Wilfrid Laurier University, reminding us that rethinking evidence, methodology, and policy through participatory approaches is how research becomes real change.
Once again, our Tomorrow’s Leaders students proved that when they lead, they do it with intention, turning a vision into two days of real, meaningful dialogue on the challenges shaping our region.

Earlier this semester, Tomorrow’s Leaders graduate students engaged in a professional development session in collaboration with the AUC Policy Hub, in preparation for the upcoming TL Symposium. The session introduced students to policy roundtables as a structured methodological tool, covering their objectives, lifecycle, stakeholder mapping, and the art of crafting guiding questions that drive meaningful dialogue.
As the Symposium approaches, sessions like this ensure that TL students step into the room not just as participants, but as informed, confident voices in policy conversation.

Today, TL student Ousswa Chouchane led an engaging session on quantum physics and computing, turning complex ideas into concepts everyone could follow.

From the limits of classical computers to the fascinating quantum world, exploring experiments like the double-slit Ousswa showed us how quantum physics reshapes our understanding of reality and future technology.

Thank you, Ousswa, for showcasing the power of student-led learning and knowledge sharing. 👏🏼💪🏼

We’re now much more confident engaging in conversations with science students!

On Friday, we held a team-building session led by former team member Sherief Khalil, with the support of the TL staff, to kick off our preparations for the symposium. Through interactive activities, we focused on building open communication, mutual trust, enhanced collaboration across all our committees, and a shared sense of responsibility for our upcoming large-scale project.

Last Saturday, TL students had a productive session with TL Senior Director, Sulaf Taha, as they began building the strategic foundation for the upcoming Symposium.

Together, we defined the needs, analyzed the root causes and effects of the selected problem they wish to address.
By the end of the workshop, students set the strategic goal, objectives, and theory of change, all while considering what is realistic within the given timeline and given resources identified within the SWOT analysis. Each committee also took its first steps toward action planning.

A strong start toward a stronger symposium and concerted action to enhance quality research and evidence-based policy-making in the MENA region.
