Strengthening Global Reach for the Printing & Packaging Sector!
USAID TRADE, in collaboration with the Export Council for Printing, Packaging, Paper, Literary, and Artistic Works (ECPP), hosted an impactful one-day workshop on International Trade Contracting. The session equipped companies in the printing and packaging sector with the essential tools and knowledge needed to strategically expand their presence in the global marketplace.
During the workshop, participants gained insights into the various types and standards of international trade contracts, focusing on key elements such as offer, acceptance, consideration, and the intent to be legally bound. Attendees learned how to draft clear, concise, and legally sound contract clauses for sales contracts, agency agreements, and distribution agreements. The session also covered incorporating standard international trade terms like Incoterms into contracts and how to review contracts to ensure compliance, mitigate risks, and optimize outcomes.
The workshop emphasized the importance of pre-contractual due diligence, the contract negotiation and drafting process, and effective techniques for dispute resolution. Participants explored the role of international organizations in resolving trade disputes, and discussed the various dispute resolution methods, including arbitration, mediation, and litigation. With this valuable knowledge, printing and packaging companies are now better equipped to navigate the complexities of international trade contracts and mitigate potential risks.
