Greenish An organisation founded in 2017 to raise awareness about the environmental issues facing Egyptians

Greenish was co-founded in 2017 by two friends Shady and Medhat to empower communities around Egypt to solve their most pressing environmental challenges. Greenish lead many projects, and worked with local, governmental and international partners. One of Greenish' latest projects is working in five governorates to deliver a four days long training of trainers program to environmental activists in

addition to hands-on training on building an environmental campaign. This project was successful,with 60% of trainees started collaborating together to start their own initiatives and projects in less than 6 month creating change on a local level, and allowed Greenish to test their approach and content which has been later used as the basis for the Greenish Educational Manual. The Greenish Educational Manual is the first Arabic environmental manual in the MENA region. The Manual is a product of one of Greenish’ key ongoing achievements, Greenish Clubs. Greenish Clubs is a platform designed by Greenish to provide university and school students the proper tools to engage in the environmental narrative within their respective communities. Within the Greenish Clubs network of students, the club members can also meet and interact with others who are passionate and interested in environmental sustainability as well as engage their peers in their educational institution to further broaden the network of environmentally literate individuals. Greenish environmental clubs are now established in 26 educational institutions around Egypt reaching more than 2000 students raising their environmental awareness on the most pressing issues facing the Egyptian society and are also encouraged to take action on environmental and climate change issues in their schools, universities, and in their communities.

حكايتنا النهارده مع نور جبر، واحدة من ميسّري النوادي الخضراء لدليل إدارة المخلفات ودليل تغير المناخ.

نور اشتغلت مع مدرّسين التعليم الفني على تبسيط فكرة تغير المناخ: إيه هو، حجمه قد إيه، وإزاي بيأثر علينا في مصر تحديدًا من الحرارة، للمياه، للغذاء. وفي نفس الوقت ربطت ده بإدارة المخلفات وإعادة التدوير كحل عملي يقدر الطلبة يشاركوا فيه جوّه المدرسة.

من خلال الجلسات، المفاهيم الكبيرة اتحولت لممارسات بسيطة: فرز مخلفات، إعادة استخدام، ونقاشات حوالين الاستهلاك والمسؤولية.
والنوادي الخضراء بتكبر بخطوات ثابتة، وبجهود ميسّرين زي نور… والتغيير الحقيقي بيبدأ من التفاصيل

Today, our story is with Nour Gabr, one of the Green Clubs facilitators for the Waste Management manual and the Climate Change manual.
Nour worked with technical education teachers to simplify the idea of climate change what it is, how big the problem is, and how it affects us in Egypt specifically, from heat to water to food. At the same time, she connected this to waste management and recycling as practical solutions that students can take part in inside their schools.
Through the sessions, big concepts turned into simple practices: waste sorting, reuse, and discussions around consumption and responsibility. And with facilitators like Nour, Green Clubs continue to grow step by step because real change starts in the details

Meet Mostafa Younes, one of the Green Clubs facilitators responsible for the Water and Food, Sustainable Agriculture, and Waste Management manuals.

In his sessions, Mostafa started with the basics with teachers: what waste is, its different types, and the waste hierarchy from reduction, to reuse, to recycling, and finally safe disposal. He linked this to what is actually happening in Egypt in terms of waste treatment and disposal technologies, so the picture became real and easy to understand.

From there, he helped teachers connect everyday topics like water, food, farming, and waste to real environmental challenges, turning them from theoretical explanations into simple practices inside the classroom. With facilitators like Mostafa, Green Clubs continue step by step and real change starts here

اتعرّفوا على مصطفى يونس، واحد من ميسّري النوادي الخضراء، والمسؤول عن أدلة المياه والغذاء، الزراعة المستدامة، وإدارة المخلفات. في جلساته، مصطفى بدأ مع المدرّسين من الأساس: يعني إيه مخلفات، أنواعها إيه، وإيه هو التسلسل الهرمي لإدارتها من التقليل، لإعادة الاستخدام، لإعادة التدوير، ولحد التخلص الآمن. وربط ده باللي بيحصل فعليًا في مصر من تقنيات للتخلص من النفايات، علشان الصورة تبقى واقعية ومفهومة. ومن هنا، قدر يساعد المدرّسين يربطوا موضوعات قريبة من حياتنا اليومية زي الميه، الأكل، الزراعة، والمخلفات بتحديات بيئية حقيقية، ويحوّلوها من شرح نظري لممارسات بسيطة جوّه الفصل. وبجهود ميسّرين زي مصطفى، النوادي الخضراء بتكمّل خطوة خطوة… والتغيير الحقيقي بيبدأ من هنا

النهارده بنسلّط الضوء على قصة نجاح مختلفة من النادي الأخضر في مدرسة WE الثانوية للتكنولوجيا التطبيقية المشتركة بالسويس. من خلال جلسات التعليم البيئي، الطلبة بدأوا يفهموا العلاقة بين اللي بيتعلموه في الفصل وبين اللي بيحصل في حياتهم اليومية حوالين الطاقة، المياه، والمخلفات.

بقيادة الأستاذة أميرة إبراهيم، النادي الأخضر بقى مساحة حقيقية للطلبة إنهم يسألوا، يجربوا، يناقشوا، ويحوّلوا المعرفة لسلوك. مبادرات بسيطة جوه المدرسة بدأت تغيّر طريقة تفكير الطلبة، وطريقة تعاملهم مع الموارد، ومع بعضهم كمان.

Today, we highlight a success story from the Green Club at WE Applied Technology Secondary School in Suez, where students connected classroom learning to real life through environmental education.

Led by Ms. Amira Ibrahim, the club became a space for students to experiment, discuss, and turn knowledge into action, creating meaningful change inside the school.

بقلوب مؤمنة، بننعى رحيل سلمى قدري.

سلمى كانت واحدة من الأصوات الصادقة والمؤثرة في قضايا المناخ، السلام، والأمن، وكرّست رحلتها المهنية لربط البحث العلمي بالواقع، والدفاع عن العدالة المناخية وتأثيرها على المجتمعات الأكثر هشاشة.

من خلال عملها مع مؤسسات دولية زي CGIAR ومركز القاهرة الدولي لتسوية النزاعات وبناء السلام، كان لسلمى دور مهم في إنتاج معرفة وسياسات بتواجه مخاطر التغير المناخي، وكمان في تمكين الشباب وبناء قدراتهم.

ومع منظمات المجتمع المدني البيئي، ساهمت سلمى في توعية وإلهام شباب كتير، وكانت دايماً مثال للالتزام، العطاء، والمسؤولية.

رحلة سلمى في العطاء متوقفتش بس على العمل ولكنها كانت طاقة محبة صادقة وتعاون دائم وتشجيع لكل اللي حواليها حتى في أشد وأصعب الأوقات.
في رحلة مرضها الطويلة كانت دائماً موجودة وحاضرة وبتعيش كل لحظة بلطف وجمال ذي روحها.

فقدانها خسارة كبيرة، لكن أثرها ورحلتها هيفضلوا مصدر إلهام.

خالص التعازي لأسرتها، أصدقائها، وكل من عرفها.

حكايتنا النهاردة مع همسة محمد واحدة من ميسّري النوادي الخضراء لدليل التنوع البيولوجي ودليل الطاقة النظيفة .
همسة اشتغلت مع المدرّسين على ربط الطبيعة اللي حوالينا بالمفاهيم البيئية الكبيرة: من التنوع البيولوجي اللي بنشوفه كل يوم، للسلاسل البيئية والترابط بين الكائنات، لحد الحفاظ على الطاقة كحل عملي جوّه المدرسة.
الهدف مكانش شرح نظري، لكن فهم حي لكوكبنا وإزاي كل عنصر فيه مرتبط بالتاني.
من خلال الجلسات، المفاهيم اتحولت لأمثلة بسيطة المدرّسين قدروا يطبّقوها جوّه الفصل وينقلوها للطلبة.
والنوادي الخضراء بتكبر بميسّرين زي همسة… والتغيير الحقيقي دايمًا بيبدأ بخطوة واعية.

Today, our story is with Hamsa Mohamed, one of the Green Clubs facilitators for the Biodiversity manual and the Clean Energy manual.
Hamsa worked with teachers to connect the nature around us to larger environmental concepts from the biodiversity we see every day, to food chains and ecological connections, all the way to energy conservation as a practical solution inside schools.
The goal was not theoretical explanation, but a living understanding of our planet and how every part of it is connected.
Through the sessions, these concepts turned into simple examples that teachers could apply in the classroom and pass on to their students.
With facilitators like Hamsa, Green Clubs continue to grow and real change always starts with a conscious step

أفكار بيئية غلط… وصحّحناها بالعلم.
اكتشفنا مع الطلاب إن في مفاهيم منتشرة زي “النفايات بتتحلل لوحدها” أو “الطاقة المتجددة مش بتكفي”.
بالأنشطة والتجارب وضّحنا إيه اللي صح وإزاي الممارسات الصغيرة تغيّر النتيجة.

Meet Bilal Walid, one of the Green Clubs facilitators for the Clean Energy manual.
Bilal worked with technical education teachers to activate the Clean Energy manual, helping them understand energy, its environmental impact, and how energy is distributed in Egypt step by step, from explanation to practice.
Through the sessions, renewable energy stopped being a theoretical concept and became simple tools that teachers could bring into the classroom and use with students.

إجراءات بسيطة… بتعمل فرق حقيقي
النهارده بنسلّط الضوء على مبادرة مميزة من النادي الأخضر بمدرسة دمياط الجديدة الثانوية الصناعية العسكرية.

تحت شعار “لا للبلاستيك”، طلبة النادي نزلوا شاطئ رأس البر وشاركوا في حملة تنظيف، جمعوا خلالها كميات كبيرة من المخلفات البلاستيكية، أغلبها ناتج عن مراكب الصيد.
مبادرة بسيطة، لكن أثرها كبير على البيئة، وعلى وعي الطلبة، وعلى شكل المكان كمان.

المبادرة اتنفذت بقيادة الأستاذة أماني عوض، بإدارة قوية وروح فريق واضحة مع الطلاب. فخورين بيها وبكل طلابها وباللي قدروا يحققوه سوا.
الهدف مش بس تنظيف الشاطئ،
الهدف إن الطلبة يتعلموا إن المشاركة، والمسؤولية، وخطوة صغيرة ممكن تلهم ناس كتير تاخد خطوات إيجابية. Simple actions can make a real difference.
Today, we highlight an inspiring initiative by the Green Club at New Damietta Military Industrial Secondary School.

Under the slogan “No to Plastic,” students carried out a clean-up at Ras El-Barr Beach, collecting large amounts of plastic waste, mostly from fishing activities. This simple action had a strong impact on both the environment and students’ environmental awareness.The initiative was implemented under the leadership of Ms. Amani Awad, through strong management and a clear team spirit with the students. We are proud of her, her students, and everything they were able to achieve together.
Small steps, when taken together, can inspire real change.

Small measures that uplift the whole school day.
Schools that tracked their weekly energy use, reused materials in activities, and added small indoor green spots noticed better air quality, less waste, and a more comfortable learning environment.
A few simple actions clear, quick results.

إجراءات بسيطة… بتحسّن يوم المدرسة كله.
لما المدارس بدأت تعمل تغييرات صغيرة زي متابعة استهلاك الكهرباء كل أسبوع، إعادة استخدام الخامات في الأنشطة، وزراعة نقط خضرا جوّه الفصول… ده ساعد في تقليل الهدر، وتحسين جودة الهواء، وخلق بيئة أحسن للطلبة.
خطوات قليلة… لكن نتيجتها بتبان بسرعة.
