Hi everyone!

We wanted to clarify the announcement shared earlier about producing a film next semester. We are creating a short fiction film, not a feature film from scratch. This means the project’s scope needs to stay realistic and manageable within what we can actually achieve.

Please keep in mind that:
• Our budget is limited
• Our locations are limited
• The story should take place in Cairo
• The project must be something we can complete within one semester
• Overall, ideas should fit the scale of a short film

Additionally, submitting your ideas is open to the public, not just AUCians, so we have updated the form to be open access.

We’re excited to see your concepts. Just make sure they match the scope of what’s possible.

HELLO,

Starting next semester, the Film Association will be producing a short film every semester, and this semester’s film will be fiction!

To make this happen, we’ll be dividing the work into three phases: pre-production, production, and post-production.

Before we begin, we need ideas, so we’re opening an official call for project submissions.

Ideas Submission Deadline: December 27th, 2025

To submit an idea, please include:
* A logline
* A synopsis
* Either a script, or notes/outlines explaining your concept

Submissions can be alone or in groups. After submissions close, we will vote and select one idea to move forward.

IMPORTANT: Winning does not mean that you will direct the film. Your idea will enter the pre-production phase, but the directing role will be assigned separately. you will definitely be credited for your idea and will be able to join the writing phase during pre-production.
