This evening, on the 3rd of March, 2025, The Leadership of South Sudan National Youth Union has had a consultative meeting with the Office of UN Resident Coordinator and UN Agencies. The meeting was attended by representatives from UN HQs, UNDP South Sudan RCO, UNESCO and UNFPA.
The meeting explored challenges facing Youth and how best they will be solved and incorporated in the UN South Sudan Youth Strategic development programme. Through out the deliberation, the National Youth Union presented myriads of challenges and possible solutions.
The meeting touched on the need for Youth Empowerment through Entrepreneurship, Programes on Sexual Reproductive Health, TVET, Cybersecurity, Agriculture, Peace Building Initiative, Juvenile Reformation programs, Capacity Building Training, Exchange Visits and experience sharing amongst others.
The Chairperson of South Sudan National Youth Union, Mr. Taban Paride Lokasmoi empassized the needs for strong partnership and call on the UN Agencies to fund Youth activities from National to the grassroot levels.
On their part, Mr. Jay Bahadur Shah, The Associate Outreach and Resource Mobilization Officer and Mr. Ignacio Trabadela Robles, The Development Coordination and Partnership Officer of the UN RCO acknowledged the role of Youth and pledged to prioritize youth activities in this Year's UN programs for South Sudanese Youth.
In conclusion, the meeting tasked the Leadership of the South Sudan National Youth Union to draft a Summary of South Sudanese Youth Priorities and deliver the document to the office of UN Resident Coordinator by Tuesday.
