تأسست جمعية علي ابن أبي طالب عام 1971 بتبرعات أهل الخير لخدمة أهالي الإسكندرية ، وتشمل خدمات تعليمية وحج وعمرة وعلاج طبي . وقامت الجمعية بدورها على أكمل وجه ، ثم قررت إدارة الجمعية عام 1983 إنشاء دار لإيواء الأيتام بمساعدة أهل الخير
