Rotaract originally began as a Rotary International youth program in 1968 and has now grown into a major Rotary-sponsored organization of over 7,000 clubs spread around the world and 170,000 + members. It is a professional service, leadership and community service and international understanding organization for young men and women between the ages 18-30. Rotaract focuses on the development of you
ng adults as leaders in their communities and workplaces. Clubs around the world also take part in international service projects, in a global effort to bring peace and international understanding to the world. We are Rotaract club of Alexandria East, second oldest-First currently active- club in Alexandria, Egypt, District 2451, founded on the 1st of September 1986. Our mission is to maintain spreading of international understanding
and peace, assure establishing long term fellowship and partnership, we struggle to take place among the future’s role models and leaders,
and we strive to make our community a better place. This mission is being accomplished under the motto -Together we can! -
Two of our proudly successful projects are
El Matbakh Project and BSLA. BSLA (Basketball Summer League in Alexandria) which is a basketball
tournament running for 12 direct years, during a 10 day festival where celebrities all over Egypt
are hosted, and sponsors are accepted for a medical cause,
i.e. every year the BSLA’s fund is all directed for the sake of curing a certain disease (blood cancer, lung cancer, liver failure..Etc)
under the motto - Dribble to save a liver - for example as for BSLA 6
The fund went to buy HIV Diagnoses Equipments for the student’s
Hospital in sporting which had a cost of 72,000 EGP. El Matbakh Project where we gather everyday during Ramadan and serve meals for Iftar, day by day for needy people, and we make sure to deliver the meals in their hands.
