Banati Foundation at ISTR 2026 | Lisbon, Portugal 🇵🇹
How can we measure real impact—not just the number of services delivered?
This was the central question that Banati Foundation brought to the International Society for Third-Sector Research (ISTR) 2026 Conference, hosted by Iscte - Instituto Universitário de Lisboa – University Institute of Lisbon, one of the world’s leading conferences dedicated to civil society, philanthropy, nonprofit organizations, and social impact research.
Representing Banati Foundation, Aml Haggag, Head of Projects Management and Research sector and co-author of the study, presented the research paper:
“Measuring What Matters: A Comprehensive Impact Assessment of Banati Foundation’s Support for Girls at Risk.”
The research was conducted in collaboration with Assistant Professor Dr. Yasmin Abdou from the University of Prince Edward Island in Egypt UPEI Cairo Campus
Drawing on more than fifteen years of Banati Foundation’s experience supporting girls at risk in Egypt, the study explores how organizations can move beyond measuring outputs to understanding meaningful, long-term change. It introduces the Banati Impact Framework, highlighting the importance of trust, belonging, relationships, and social capital as essential foundations for sustainable reintegration and empowerment.
This participation reflects Banati Foundation’s commitment to transforming years of field experience into evidence-based knowledge and contributing to the global dialogue on child protection, social impact, and civil society.
This research was developed through a collaboration between Banati Foundation and the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) UPEI Cairo Campus . The study draws on Banati Foundation’s programme supported by Sawiris Foundation for Social Development
