Ukraine's children and families have endured more than nine months of mounting destruction and displacement. Children continue to be killed, injured and deeply traumatized by the violence around them. Schools, hospitals and other civilian infrastructure on which they depend are still damaged or destroyed. Families were divided and lives torn apart.
Millions of children are in need of humanitarian assistance as they continue to suffer the deadly consequences of a brutal war they did not fight. The war resulted in the displacement of people on a scale and pace not seen since World War II, with far-reaching implications for the entire region and beyond. By December 6, 2022, about 7.8 million individual refugees from Ukraine were registered in Europe, and millions more people were internally displaced persons in Ukraine.
