🎬 The Baltic VCA Summit 2023 wrapped - the AFTERMOVIE is out!

On August 24-25th the and investor community gathered for the Baltic VCA Summit 2023 for two days of industry overviews, networking, sports and cultural activities. The event, which was held for the 11th year and rotates across the Baltic countries, this year welcomed more than 250 people at the seaside summer capital of Estonia, Pärnu.

🟣 This time the event put a focus on further Nordic-Baltic cooperation and was perfectly stitched together by a fabulous professional and outstanding person – the event host and moderator Claes Mikko Nilsen.

🟣 We were so honoured to witness a keynote speech from Mr Frans Tieleman, the Chair of Invest Europe who gave a very interesting insight into the industry’s way forward, followed by a fireside chat with President Kersti Kaljulaid on her view on tech investments. The European and Baltic VC&PE fund performance overview by Kriss Spulis from the European Investment Fund (EIF), interviewed by Sille Pettai (SmartCap) created wide attention in the audience with its precise and detailed market data. The novelty view on macroeconomic trends impacting the PE/VC industry provided by Markus Hollmen (Corecam Family Office) and interviewed by Kristine Berzina (Livonia Partners) has become a widely discussed topic in the investor community.

🟣The panel discussions with their extremely well-structured and interesting viewpoints, diversified participants, and innovative format, created a new benchmark for many upcoming events. Thank you for the very insightful LP panel Barbara Piette (Knightsbridge Advisers LLC), Pavel Dvorak (EBRD), Stiina Lehti (Odensö), Samuel Wendelin (Tesi) and
moderator Kristjan Kalda (BaltCap). The “Innovation in the industry” panel, moderated by Margus Uudam (Karma Ventures) with Rebecka Löthman Rydå (Inventure), Rokas Peciulaitis (Contrarian Ventures), Taneli Tikka (Dimension Venture Partners) and Kart Siilats (Superangel), brought many sharp, smart and cutting-edge ideas on the table and was supported by its engaging Jeopardy-style format and fun ChatGPT viewpoints.

🙏PARTNERS! Thank you BaltCap for your full support in putting the event together, for TGS Baltic in engaging the audience with various activities, for Invest in Estonia in helping to build the best investment climate in the region, for SmartCap in bringing together a diversified LP base, for COBALT Legal in being a long-time partner and enabler of networking activities, for Specialist VC and Trind Ventures in helping us all to fundraise and support , for Tera Ventures in unlocking the potential of best talents.

🙏 And we could never have imagined Summit Day 2 if it weren’t for Karma Ventures, who helped to create a “Be present” vibe as the main partner for the whole Activity Day which included morning run, tennis, golf, various beach sports and a fabulous BBQ lunch. The Siena Art Tour by Siena Secondary Fund was a cherry on top guiding the audience into the maze of art investments and impact.

🙏 Last but not least - a huge thank you to the main organising superpower team Kadri Lindpere, Marianne Kosenkranius, Kairi Loomet, Liis Peetermann, Kadri Barclay and our dear partners across the region for making it all a reality: LVCA, LTVCA, FVCA, DVCA, SVCA, NVCA.

🇪🇪 Kersti Kaljulaid served as the President of the Republic of Estonia from 2016-2021. During her time in office, she made her presence felt in both her homeland and the international arena. She is the first Estonian to be featured in the Forbes World's 100 Most Powerful Women.

President Kaljulaid is a vocal advocate of human rights, the rule of law, freedom of speech, and democracy. One of her principles has always been: “I am never silent when our security is in question, when our freedoms are at stake, or when those weaker than us are treated unjustly.

We're glad to welcome her on the stage at the Baltic VCA Summit 2023 - held on August 24-25, in Pärnu, Estonia.
