Important Awareness Notice for the Bangladeshi Community in Estonia
Dear respected members of the Bangladeshi community,
As Kurban / Qurbani is coming, the Estonian and Bangladeshi Cultural Association (EBCA) would like to kindly remind everyone about the importance of following the laws of the Republic of Estonia.
Religious slaughter in Estonia is allowed only under strict legal conditions: it must take place in an official slaughterhouse, under veterinary supervision, and according to Estonian law. Private slaughter in farmhouses, backyards, or unofficial places is strictly prohibited and can create serious legal problems. ERR recently reported that the Ministry of the Interior has reminded the Muslim community about these rules before Eid al-Adha. ()
We understand that Kurban is an important religious duty for Muslims. However, as Muslims living in Estonia, we also have a responsibility to respect and obey the law of the country where we live.
Some members of our community may think about going to private farms and slaughtering animals themselves. EBCA strongly requests everyone not to do this illegal practice in Estonia. Law enforcement authorities are already concerned about this issue. If something bad happens, it will not only affect the individual person, but it may also damage the reputation and image of the whole Bangladeshi and Muslim community in Estonia.
There are legal alternatives. Halal slaughter can be arranged in countries where it is permitted under proper conditions, such as Latvia, Lithuania, or Poland, or through legal business entities that provide this service according to law and hygiene standards.
Our request to the community is simple:
Do your Kurban only where it is legally permitted.
Respect Estonian law.
Protect the good image of our community.
Fulfil your religious duty in a safe, legal, and responsible way.
Let us show that the Bangladeshi Muslim community in Estonia is respectful, responsible, and law-abiding.

🚨 এস্তোনিয়ায় বসবাসরত বাংলাদেশি কমিউনিটির প্রতি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ সচেতনতামূলক বার্তা 🚨
প্রিয় এস্তোনিয়ায় বসবাসরত সম্মানিত বাংলাদেশি কমিউনিটির সদস্যবৃন্দ,
কোরবানীর সময় ঘনিয়ে আসছে। এই উপলক্ষে Estonian and Bangladeshi Cultural Association (EBCA) সবার প্রতি বিনীতভাবে আহ্বান জানাচ্ছে যে, আমরা সবাই যেন এস্তোনিয়া প্রজাতন্ত্রের আইন মেনে চলি এবং সম্মান করি।
এস্তোনিয়ায় ধর্মীয় পদ্ধতিতে পশু জবাই শুধুমাত্র কঠোর আইনি শর্তে অনুমোদিত। এটি অবশ্যই অনুমোদিত কসাইখানায়, ভেটেরিনারি তত্ত্বাবধানে এবং এস্তোনিয়ার প্রচলিত আইন অনুযায়ী হতে হবে। ব্যক্তিগত ফার্মহাউস, বাড়ির আঙিনা বা অননুমোদিত স্থানে পশু জবাই করা কঠোরভাবে নিষিদ্ধ। সম্প্রতি ERR নিউজও জানিয়েছে যে, Eid al-Adha উপলক্ষে Estonian Ministry of the Interior মুসলিম কমিউনিটিকে এ বিষয়ে সতর্ক করেছে।
আমরা জানি, কুরবানী মুসলমানদের জন্য অত্যন্ত গুরুত্বপূর্ণ একটি ধর্মীয় দায়িত্ব। তবে, এস্তোনিয়ায় বসবাসকারী মুসলমান হিসেবে আমাদের দায়িত্ব হলো—আমরা যে দেশে বসবাস করি, সেই দেশের আইনকে সম্মান করা এবং মেনে চলা।
আমাদের কমিউনিটির কিছু ভাই হয়তো ভাবতে পারেন যে, তারা বিভিন্ন ফার্মহাউসে গিয়ে নিজেরা পশু জবাই করবেন। EBCA দৃঢ়ভাবে অনুরোধ করছে—এস্তোনিয়ায় কেউ যেন এই অবৈধ কাজ না করেন। আইন প্রয়োগকারী সংস্থাগুলো ইতিমধ্যেই এই বিষয়টি নিয়ে উদ্বিগ্ন। যদি কোনো অনাকাঙ্ক্ষিত ঘটনা ঘটে, তাহলে তা শুধু একজন ব্যক্তির ক্ষতি করবে না, বরং এস্তোনিয়ায় পুরো বাংলাদেশি ও মুসলিম কমিউনিটির সুনামকেও ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত করবে।
আইনসম্মত কিছু বিকল্প রয়েছে। লাতভিয়া, লিথুয়ানিয়া বা পোল্যান্ডের মতো দেশগুলোতে, যেখানে হালাল জবাই বৈধভাবে করা যায়, সেখানে কুরবানীর ব্যবস্থা করা সম্ভব। এছাড়াও, এমন বৈধ ব্যবসায়িক প্রতিষ্ঠান বা সার্ভিসের মাধ্যমেও এটি করা যেতে পারে, যারা আইন এবং স্বাস্থ্যবিধি মেনে এই সেবা প্রদান করে।
আমাদের কমিউনিটির প্রতি আমাদের আন্তরিক আহ্বান:
✅ কুরবানী শুধুমাত্র সেখানে করুন, যেখানে এটি আইনগতভাবে অনুমোদিত
✅ এস্তোনিয়ার আইন মেনে চলুন
✅ আমাদের কমিউনিটির ভালো ভাবমূর্তি রক্ষা করুন
✅ নিরাপদ, আইনসম্মত এবং দায়িত্বশীলভাবে ধর্মীয় দায়িত্ব পালন করুন
আসুন, আমরা প্রমাণ করি যে, এস্তোনিয়ায় বসবাসরত বাংলাদেশি মুসলিম কমিউনিটি একটি সচেতন, দায়িত্বশীল এবং আইন মেনে চলা কমিউনিটি।
