On September 10, 2025, the Estonian-Swedish Mental Health and Suicidology Institute (ERSI) hosted a conference titled "Let's Change the Narrative on Su***de" at the Estonian Parliament, with support from the Ministry of Social Affairs (Sotsiaalministeerium ).The event aimed to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and provide an overview of su***de prevention activities in Estonia. The conference covered:

✨ Su***de trends in Estonia
✨ Su***de prevention activities in Estonia
✨ Whole-of-society approach
✨ Responsible media reporting
✨Management of a suicidal person in primary health care
Key speakers included: Prof. Sisask (ERSI), Peeter Värnik, PhD (ERSI), Anne Randväli (SOM), Dr. Zrinka Laido (ERSI), and Käthlin Mikiver, MA (ERSI). The panel discussion focused on the quality of data on su***de, responsible media reporting, and postvention. During the conference, the Papageno Award 2025 was presented by Anniki Lai (Sotsiaalministeerium ) to journalists Kristi Vainküla (Eesti Ekspress) , Tarmo Michelson, (Maaleht ) and Riina Palmiste (&Stiil) for responsible reporting that shares hope and supports su***de prevention. This award has been given for the third consecutive year through cooperation between the Ministry of Social Affairs (Sotsiaalministeerium), the Estonian Association of Young Journalists ( Noorte Ajakirjanike Selts-ENAS), the Estonian-Swedish Mental Health and Suicidology Institute (ERSI), Peaasi and the Estonian Association of Bereaved (Eesti Suitsiidiohvri Lähedaste Ühenduse). We are grateful to the participants for their engagement, and being part of a whole-of-society approach to su***de prevention.
