Great news! We secured substantial co-funding for an exiting new project: Youth Dialogue Camp 🥳

The aim of the project is to strengthen young people’s ability to participate in dialogue and express their views with confidence – especially among young people from rural areas and county schools.

The project seeks to develop participants’ listening, communication, and critical thinking skills, and to increase their confidence in sharing opinions in a respectful and inclusive environment.

An important objective is to ensure that young people from smaller schools and communities can also become part of active youth participation networks, despite having fewer local opportunities.

Places are available for young people aged 16–22 who live in Estonia. They will collaborate over two weekends, one at the end of 2026 and one at the beginning of 2027. This project is a continuation of our current Youth Dialogue Lab initiative. This gives us a great opportunity to apply all the lessons learned.

The funding process for this project was led by our team member Mia Pransmann, with support from Karlina Zviedre and Tanvi Aiyadurai.

2️⃣🎂🥳 – Today we celebrated the birthday of our NGO; we are two years old now.

It was a very nice occasion, as we have been hosting all the partners of the international Teach Peach project this week. (More about that in an upcoming post.)

The first concepts for the Estonian Dialogue Academy were developed in 2023. We officially registered as a non-profit MTÜ in Estonia in 2024.

We are very grateful to everyone who has been part of our journey so far: our team members, volunteers, partners, facilitators, collaborators and funders. We are looking forward to the coming year!

'What do I need to feel safe in my community?' Last Thursday, students from Audentes International School in Tallinn came together for a Youth Dialogue Lab session to explore this question.

During the warm-up, the students discussed opposing ideas: rules or freedom? Community or individuality? Privacy or surveillance? Then, they split up into circles and talked in two rounds. First, they shared their ideas about what it means to feel safe and welcome. After that, they explored how their community could support them in feeling safer.

We organised this Youth Dialogue Lab session together with members of the Student Council. They chose the topic and led the discussions. They did an amazing job!

Many thanks to Wasma Imran for welcoming Estonian Dialogue Academy. And many thanks as well to Mari Jõgiste, Luke Stange and Mia Pransmann for helping with organising and facilitating.

Youth Dialogue Lab will continue to Avatud Kool, where we will organise an event on European values in the light of Europe Day. And on the 8th of August the core group of Youth Dialogue Lab will organise a public dialogue at Opinion Festival / Arvamusfestival, discussing whether AI should be limited for young people, or not.

Youth Dialogue Lab is co-funded by the European Union. Read more about this project here: www.eda.ee/ydl

OPENING PARTY – Last Thursday, we held a wonderful party to celebrate the opening of the NGO Hub at Telliskivi Creative City / Telliskivi Loomelinnak.

It was a great opportunity to bring together friends, family, partners and others in our network. After each organisation gave a presentation about their work, we enjoyed nice food, drinks and good company.

Together with seven other organisations, we form a vibrant NGO community. Our floor has been completely refurbished with new workplaces, meeting spaces, a brand new kitchen and a launch area.

There are still a few desks available. If you are interested in joining the community, please let us know!

We are looking for Estonian tech CEOs 👀 Can you help? The members of our Youth Dialogue Lab are organising a public dialogue on the topic of AI at Arvamusfestival in August. The question they will discuss is: Should access to AI be limited for young people? 🤖✋🏽⁉️

For this dialogue, they want to invite several tech company CEOs who are interested in hearing the perspectives of young people aged 15–19 and who would like to join the conversation. The youngsters themselves will facilitate this public dialogue. It will take place on Friday 7 August at 12:00.

Our Youth Dialogue Lab participants that day in the dialogue programme, curated by Nordic Council of Ministers Office in Estonia.

If you have suggestions, please write here or to [email protected]. Thanks a lot! 🙏🏽 On behalf of Ellinor, Sergei, Illia, Ruut, Anett, Säde, Sara Freia and other members of Youth Dialogue Lab (more info www.eda.ee/ydl) This project is co-funded by the European Union.

On Saturday and Sunday a group of enthusiastic and dedicated people participated our two-day Dialogue Facilitation training.

In the fall we will organise this training again. You can find more information about the programme here: https://eda.ee/training/dialogue-facilitation/

If you like to be notified about the dates, please send a message to [email protected] and we will put you on the list.

We are happy that attention for dialogue as a conversational format is growing, both in Estonia and in the Baltic region. Dialogue is not just about sitting in a circle and being polite. Rather, it is a collective attempt to explore questions that matter to the community or organisation in depth.

Professional facilitation is crucial in helping participants reach new levels of understanding, managing emotions, and switching effectively between conceptual and personal levels.

🔔 Would to like to learn about dialogue and dialogue facilitation? We still have a few places available at our Dialogue Facilitation training, which is taking place on 14 and 15 March in Tallinn.

Go to https://eda.ee/training/dialogue-facilitation/ for more information and registration.

This two day training will focus on:

- Understanding the background and values of dialogue
- Preparing and choosing the appropriate form of dialogue
- Selecting and inviting people for dialogue
- Opening, facilitating and concluding a dialogue
- Strategies for reading and steering group dynamics

Output of the training:

1) You can implement these skills in your own work, your organisation and community. You will also be able to join future in depth trainings.
2) We are starting a pool of dialogue facilitators. This pool is there to help with our projects and with projects we run in collaboration with partners. After the training you can join this pool.
3) In spring 2026 we are organising English language dialogues circles in Estonia, as part of the international Borderland Dialogues. After the training you can support this project.

If you have any questions about the training, please write to [email protected] or send a DM.
