Join us on September 16 at 2 p.m. in Tallinn's Freedom Square as we gather to mark the one-year anniversary of Iran's Women, Life, Freedom movement.
It has been one year since the death of Mahsa Amini at the hands of Iran's morality police sparked a wave of protests across Iran. What began as outrage over the unjust treatment of women has evolved into a multifaceted movement demanding freedom, human rights and democracy.
Although the Islamic Republic has responded with a brutal crackdown, arrests of activists, restrictions on Internet access and even executions, the spirit of resistance remains unbroken. Women continue to remove their hijabs in public, workers strike, and young people take to the streets chanting "Woman, Life, Freedom"
We will honor the memory of the hundreds who have lost their lives in the struggle for justice over the past year. We will stand in solidarity with the thousands who are still imprisoned for daring to speak out against dictatorship and oppression.
The struggle is far from over. But we are confident that the yearning for freedom and human dignity burns brightly in the hearts of the Iranian people. Justice and freedom will prevail.
We call on all who care about freedom and human dignity to stand in solidarity with us as we remember the fallen and continue to work toward the day when the Iranian people can live in freedom and justice for all.
Women, Life, Freedom!
