🎵 In a crowded streaming world, what makes Bandcamp different?

For our upcoming Masterclass on June 18, we’ll be joined by Aly Gillani, Bandcamp’s Artist & Label Outreach Lead and founder of the award-winning First Word Records, home to artists including Children of Zeus, Allysha Joy and Kaidi Tatham.

Working across artist development, labels and direct-to-fan platforms, Aly brings a unique perspective on how independent artists and managers can create lasting relationships with their audiences and make the most of Bandcamp’s community-driven ecosystem.

🌍 Join us for a practical conversation on the platform’s key features, the ways artists and labels are using it today, and how managers can integrate Bandcamp into a broader long-term strategy.

⚠️ The future of 🇪🇺 EU cultural and artistic research is at risk. That’s why EMMA supports the campaign, calling on the EU institutions to secure EU funding for culture.

Negotiations on the next long-term EU budget ( ) are ongoing and one of the largest envelopes, covering research, innovation and competitiveness, is worth €409 billion 💶 This includes Horizon Europe and the European Competitiveness Fund… and almost completely ignores culture.

❌ A dedicated component for culture in the European Competitiveness Fund? Nope.
❌ A continuation of Cluster 2 for culture in Horizon Europe? Gone.

The cultural sector deserves and needs better ✊ That’s why we’re endorsing the campaign, which calls on the European Commission, European Parliament and the Council for three things:

📍 NAME: Put culture in the title of a Horizon Europe window: ‘Culture and Global Societal Challenges’. Put creativity in the title of a Competitiveness Fund policy window.

🏛️ PLACE: Give culture and creativity dedicated structural components in both programmes. This means dedicated budget lines, work programmes and calls for culture. A horizontal principle is not enough, nor is a line inside someone else's policy window. Culture deserves a home of its own.

💶 FUND: €5 billion for culture and artistic research in Horizon Europe. €3 billion for culture and creative industries in the European Competitiveness Fund.

🎤 What can nearly 50 years in artist management teach today's managers?

Last week, we welcomed Rosa Lagarrigue for a Career Insights session filled with stories, experience and reflections from a career spent helping artists grow across different markets, generations and stages of success 🌍

Here are some of the ideas that stood out:

🤝 Don't build your world around a single artist. New projects and perspectives make you a better manager and bring fresh energy to your work.

👥 Build teams, not dependencies. Strong careers are supported by people with different skills working towards the same goal.

🎶 There is no one-size-fits-all approach. Every artist needs a different strategy, pace and type of support.

⚡ Trust your judgement and make decisions. Spending too much time analysing can mean watching opportunities pass by.

✨ You don't need to have everything planned. Some of the best opportunities come from staying open, curious and willing to take a chance.

🌎 Think internationally. Looking beyond your home market can open new possibilities for artists and help careers grow over the long term.

❤️ Protect your life outside music. Family, friends and personal interests can help you stay grounded through the highs and lows of the industry.

A huge thank you to Rosa for sharing her honesty and experience with the EMMA community 🙏

🇪🇺 EMMA joins 26 organisations in welcoming the proposed Culture–Music strand in AgoraEU and the recognition that music needs targeted EU support and dedicated funding to match its cultural, social and economic importance.

✅ Recognition now needs to become action.

As negotiations continue, we call on the European Parliament and Council to ensure that, alongside funding, the final regulation gives the music strand the tools it needs to succeed:

• Action on mobility barriers for artists and professionals
• Greater transparency and fair access to audiences in the streaming ecosystem
• Support for collaboration between music and other cultural and creative sectors

🎶 Music is one of Europe’s most dynamic and internationally visible cultural strengths. AgoraEU must help it grow, circulate and thrive.

🎸 Showcase festival today… bigger stages tomorrow?

🎤 What can nearly 50 years in artist management teach today’s managers?

From developing arena-level careers to guiding artists across decades of change in the music business, Rosa Lagarrigue has built a reputation as one of the most respected and influential managers in the Spanish-speaking world 🌍

Having worked with generations of major artists, including Alejandro Sanz, Raphael or Rozalén, Rosa has experienced first-hand how artist careers evolve, adapt and endure over time 🚀

This Career Insights session is not about one market or one genre. It’s about perspective, longevity, artist relationships, international thinking and the kind of experience that only comes from decades working at the highest level of management 💡

A rare opportunity for managers across Europe to hear from someone who has lived through multiple generations of the music industry — and continues shaping it today.✨

🇪🇺 Last week, we gathered in Brussels for the first EMMA Forum since the appointment of our new Board.

Over two inspiring days, EMMA members from across Europe came together to exchange ideas, raise questions and shape the next steps for music management and the wider European music ecosystem 🎶

We discussed working conditions, organisational development, advocacy and representation — while also meeting with key organisations to find common ground around the challenges managers and artists are facing today 🤝

💬 Jess Partridge, EMMA Executive Director: “Being together in person helps build stronger relationships across Europe, find common ground and develop better conditions for managers and artists. It was exciting to see everyone contributing to the conversation” 🌍✨

A huge thank you to everyone for your participation, energy and contributions throughout these two days. Exciting times ahead for EMMA and our community 🚀
