🎄💔 This Christmas, while many homes are filled with lights and warm hugs, thousands of animals in ECUADOR are still waiting for something much simpler: not to be abandoned, to be in a loving family, or to live surrounded by a community that cares for them and does not mistreat them.

Reducing urban animal overpopulation is not only the responsibility of shelters or foundations. It is a COLLECTIVE EFFORT that begins with small but powerful actions: spaying and neutering, educating, choosing not to abandon, reporting abuse, and supporting those on the ground doing the difficult, quiet, and constant work.

❤️ This Christmas, you can choose differently. 🤝🩵 From July to September were months of teamwork, creativity, and heart. From planning and organizing to promoting and setting up — every effort came together for one beautiful purpose: to raise funds for "Mininos Felices", a cat shelter in Ecuador that gives love and care to hundreds of rescued cats. 🐾

We decided to unite culture and compassion in a single space — and so, Movie for the Cats was born! 🎬✨ We partnered with the director of CHUZALONGO, an Ecuadorian film inspired by an Andean legend, to create an event that celebrated Ecuadorian cinema while supporting this incredible shelter and the amazing work they do for their furry friends.

🐾💛 This year, our hearts led us to focus on a group of animals that are often forgotten — cats.

Although cats may seem easier to care for at home, not every family practices conscious and responsible pet ownership. As a result, many cats who once had a home end up living on the streets. Over time, they form colonies, and the number of stray cats continues to grow.

💕 The mission of Mininos Felices is to provide care, food, and shelter to cats found in vulnerable conditions, while also raising awareness and educating people about responsible feline ownership. This shelter has been a true voice for these animals, sharing touching stories of recovery, compassion, and — most importantly — responsible adoption.

Follow our journey to discover how July and August became months full of action and heart here in Winnipeg, as we worked to create an event in support of this incredible shelter and the beautiful cats they protect. 🐱✨

Beyond Pawssibilities is dedicated to strategically channeling financial support to shelters that need a trusted bridge to connect with donors around the world — easily and securely.
👩‍💻 In 2024, we created and managed this GoFundMe campaign, sharing the heartfelt story that "Amigos de Isabella" entrusted to us. Together with the shelter, we shared the fundraiser among friends, family, and supporters, successfully raising funds that helped cover essential needs such as rent, food, and the caretaker’s salary.
🙌 We are truly grateful that this online fundraiser was such a success and that so many animals benefited from everyone’s generosity.

👏 Our first fundraising campaign took place in 2024. We came together and raised our voices on social media to support "Amigos de Isabella", a dog shelter located in Quito, the capital of Ecuador.
💔 Their story is truly moving: after a traumatic eviction in 2022, due to legal problems with the place they rented, the shelter had to relocate and rebuild everything from scratch. Part of the money saved had to be invested in building a suitable place to keep 100 dogs, which left them struggling financially over these years.
💸 Thanks to the generosity of many caring people, every dollar raised in 2024 was donated to the shelter. They used the funds wisely and with love, ensuring that all their dogs remained safe, healthy, and happy—still waiting for the day they’ll meet their forever family.

In Quito, animal shelters are facing a deeper crisis marked by rising pet abandonment rates and declining donations. The root of this crisis stems from the pandemic, economic struggles, and increasingly negative attitudes towards pet ownership. Shelter leaders emphasize that while self-funding and community efforts are crucial, support from Ecuadorian authorities through mass sterilization campaigns hasn’t been enough for all communities and forgotten rural areas.
