📣Los jóvenes no son el futuro.
Son el presente. Y en el presente necesitan estar protegidos.

✋Las cifras asustan: las violencias contra niñas, niños y jóvenes se han incrementado. Los homicidios aumentaron 640% en cuatro años. El suicidio en niñas de 10 a 14 años aumentó 322% y en niños 480%.

Por eso hay que hablar. Conversamos con jóvenes sobre nuestra historia: cómo las víctimas de abuso sexual rompimos el silencio, movilizamos a millones, empujamos reformas y creamos las primeras herramientas de protección para el país.

Lo hacemos para hablar de prevención pero también para, que ellos sepan que si ellas o ellos han sido víctimas de cualquier clase de violencia: no fue su culpa, su voz importa y poseen una fuerza extraordinaria.

Después de cada encuentro, os jóvenes escogen una frase que resume el aprendizaje que se llevan del encuentro.

Esta vez fue:

“El silencio tampoco es neutral.
Habla. Actúa. Protege.”

✦ I am deeply moved to see that a blog I wrote for the United Nations SDG Action Campaign continues to expand its impact.

✤ But what moves me even more is to see the truth behind it:

⚠︎ The way the world sees victims of s3xu4l viol3nc3 can either help them rise…

or keep them silent.

For generations, victims have been portrayed as weak, ashamed, broken, passive, and powerless.

⊘ That narrative teaches victims to hide and stay silent.

And it teaches society to keep devaluing them instead of recognizing their power.

⚠︎ When victims stay silent, aggressors stay protected.

✦ That is why changing the narrative is more than a communication strategy.

✤ It is prevention.

Because when we recognize the extraordinary force it takes to survive, something shifts:

Victims speak.
They report.
They connect.
They organize.
They protect others.

➳ They become SUPvivors — super-survivors.

SUPvivors is the paradigm shift we use to create transformative prevention programs in Ecuador.

◇ It means survivors are not only people who endured harm.

They are change makers who can turn their journey into action.

This is the message I have carried across 4 continents.

Because when victims transform into SUPvivors, society changes.

And this is vital to reach our goal:

SANARTE® nació de una certeza profunda: las y los sobrevivientes son mucho más que su herida.
Impulsado por Paola Andrade, también sobreviviente, este programa emblemático de Ecuador Dice No Más® puso desde el inicio el bienestar de las víctimas y el enfoque basado en trauma en el centro. Así, el arte se convirtió en un espacio seguro para transformar el dolor en voz, la experiencia en fuerza y la reconstrucción en posibilidad.
SANARTE® was born from a deep conviction: survivors are far more than their wounds.
Led by Paola Andrade, also a survivor, this flagship program of Ecuador Dice No Más® placed victims’ wellbeing and a trauma-informed approach at its core from the very beginning. In this way, art became a safe space where pain could be transformed into voice, experience into strength, and healing into possibility.

¿What happens when a woman or girl who has experienced violence receives support and mobilizing resources?

On this International Women’s Day we share the blog our director Paola Andrade () wrote for United Nations about the transformative SUPERsurvivor Effect®.

Paola has become a global voice in this conversation:

🏅 First Ecuadorian to win the SDG Action Award – Heroes of Tomorrow (UN, 2022)
🏅 First Ecuadorian judge of the United Nations SDG Action Campaign (2023)
🏅 First Latin American facilitator mentoring Heroes of Tomorrow finalists from 190 countries in Rome (UN, 2025)

In her blog she proposes a different way to address violence:

📍When we eradicate the stigmas that portray victims as weak, ashamed or powerless and provide support and transformative resources they can become SUPERsurvivors® capable of mobilizing societies.

Through Ecuador Dice No Más, this approach has mobilized millions of people, educators, families and public institutions to create safer environments for children, women and communities.
