Fruit Haven Ecovillage

Fruit Haven Ecovillage Fruit Haven is an ecovillage in Ecuador for permaculture enthusiasts. We offer transparency and accessibility for all!

A group of 28 people joined together to purchase 230 hectares (570 acres) of pristine tropical farmland in Ecuador's Oriente region. We are co-creating a sustainable village of permaculture enthusiasts who wish to live in a beautiful forest of fruits and eat raw foods. Located in the foothills of the Andes on the edge of the Amazon rainforest, the tropical climate is ideal for durian, marang, roll

inia, mamey sapote, jackfruit, papaya, and much more. The farm already produces bananas, papayas, pineapples, oranges, lemons, pitahaya, and local/wild fruits. Contact us to inquire about renting a room, staying as a volunteer, joining as a community member, or buying into the project and getting the legal security of your name on a title with a private homestead lot all to yourself. Please help us really get things started by donating to the crowdfunding campaign:

Bananas are a staple at Fruit Haven Ecovillage, but no, we don’t live on bananas alone.

When they’re green, they’re basically plantains. We boil them, mash them, bake them. Savory, filling, versatile. When they ripen, they turn into easy sweet calories, smoothies, snacks, and even the dogs love em. One plant, multiple stages, multiple uses.

We still buy produce. Rice, veggies, spices, things we don’t grow yet. This isn’t fantasy self sufficiency, it’s practical off-grid living. We grow what grows well, we buy the rest, and stop pretending food needs to be complicated.

Bananas just happen to be the tasty backbone. 🍌

First time seeing a sloth 🦥
Sara witnessed something truly special a sloth slowly making its way up a young papaya tree right next to our house at Fruit Haven. Calm, gentle, and completely unbothered, this majestic little being reminded us why protecting habitat matters. When the forest is respected, wildlife feels safe enough to come home 🌿

Living here means sharing space not just with plants, but with the lives they support. Moments like this never get old.

Visit fruithaven.land to learn about the project and a chance to become part of it.

🌿 Ever seen a roof grown straight from the rainforest? Watch our Shuar neighbor show the ancestral technique of folding and tying paja toquilla, a renewable palm leaf that becomes a durable, water shedding roof. No nails, no machinery, just skill, rhythm and forest wisdom.

Living out here teaches you to slow down and respect the knowledge that has been protecting homes for generations. These leaves will become the roof of our compost station, cool, natural and fully biodegradable. Sustainability does not get more real than this.
