Next Gen. Sphere [Some recent AI works by DW Akademie and SACMID Fellows]

It’s truly inspiring to see our fellows putting their learning into action after the AI in Journalism training and online fact-checking sessions. In today’s rapidly evolving media landscape, mastering digital tools and AI has become essential, not just to stay relevant, but to lead with credibility and innovation.

In April 2025, 30 of our fellows underwent an intensive four-day training on AI in Journalism. Building on that foundation, they joined their first online fact-checking session on June 21, 2025, with another session scheduled for June 28. What’s remarkable is that even halfway through their fact-checking journey, they’re already demonstrating impressive accuracy and critical thinking in verifying information. We’re confident they will continue to grow as responsible, future-ready media professionals.

This initiative is part of a broader effort led by DW Akademie in partnership with the South Asia Center for Media in Development (SACMID), with support from German Cooperation. It’s a key component of DW Akademie and SACMID’s flagship project, “Journalism of the Future – Sustainable Quality Media Regain Trust,” aimed at equipping journalists with the skills and integrity to rebuild public trust in journalism.

We’re excited to witness how our fellows will continue to shape the future of quality media.
