⚡ Développer des compétences, créer des opportunités !

Une nouvelle formation en électricité a débuté au centre DARV de l’OIM Algérie, offrant aux participants des compétences pratiques susceptibles de les accompagner dans leur parcours vers l’emploi salarié ou indépendant.

Pendant cinq jours, les participants acquièrent une expérience pratique des principes fondamentaux de l’électricité, allant de l’installation de circuits électriques simples et de la lecture de schémas électriques à l’utilisation d’équipements de test et de mesure, en passant par le diagnostic et la réparation en toute sécurité des pannes électriques courantes.

🔧 Grâce à ces formations professionnelles pratiques, l’OIM aide les migrants à renforcer leurs compétences, à élargir leurs perspectives de subsistance et à accroître leur autonomie.

Cette activité est mise en œuvre dans le cadre du programme NAMAD, financé par le ministère britannique des Affaires étrangères, du Commonwealth et du Développement (FCDO).

⚡ Building skills, creating opportunities!

A new electricity training has kicked off at IOM Algeria’s DARV center, providing participants with practical skills that can support their pathways towards employment and self-employment.

Over five days, participants are gaining hands-on experience in the fundamentals of electricity, from installing simple electrical circuits and reading electrical diagrams to using testing and measuring equipment and safely diagnosing and repairing common electrical faults.

🔧 Through practical vocational training, IOM supports migrants in strengthening their skills, expanding their livelihood opportunities and building greater self-reliance.

This activity is implemented under the NAMAD programme, funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO).

🇩🇿 تعزيز حوكمة الهجرة من خلال الحوار والتعاون
في الأسبوع الماضي، جمعت المنظمة الدولية للهجرة في الجزائر والحكومة الجزائرية، ممثلةً باللجنة الوزارية المشتركة المكلفة بدراسة ومتابعة قضايا الهجرة، عددًا من المؤسسات الوطنية في إطار مشاورات تقنية حول مؤشرات حوكمة الهجرة (MGI).
وشكّلت هذه الورشة فرصةً لاستعراض أبرز أوجه التقدم المحرز في إطار عملية مؤشرات حوكمة الهجرة، وتبادل الآراء حول المبادرات والتطورات الأخيرة، وتحديد الأولويات الوطنية الرئيسية لتعزيز حوكمة الهجرة في الجزائر.
وقد أُتيحت هذه المبادرة بفضل دعم الاتحاد الأوروبي، في إطار برنامج MPRR، وكذلك مملكة هولندا، في إطار نشاط يُنفَّذ ضمن الشراكة الاستراتيجية COMPASS. ويساهم هذا الدعم المستمر في تعزيز حوكمة الهجرة والتعاون المؤسسي في الجزائر.
وتعرب المنظمة الدولية للهجرة عن خالص شكرها للحكومة الجزائرية على التزامها المتميز وقيادتها وحرصها على المضي قدمًا في تعزيز حوكمة الهجرة، كما تتوجه بالشكر إلى جميع المؤسسات المشاركة على مساهماتها القيّمة في هذه العملية.

🇩🇿Renforcer la gouvernance des migrations par le dialogue et la coopération.

La semaine dernière, l’OIM Algérie et le gouvernement algérien, par l’intermédiaire du Comité interministériel chargé de l’étude et du suivi des questions migratoires, ont réuni plusieurs institutions nationales dans le cadre d’une consultation technique sur les indicateurs de gouvernance des migrations (MGI).

Cet atelier a été l’occasion de faire le point sur les grands progrès réalisés dans le cadre de l’exercice des MGI, d’échanger sur les initiatives et les évolutions récentes, et d’identifier les principales priorités nationales pour renforcer la gouvernance des migrations en Algérie.

Cette initiative a été rendue possible grâce au soutien de l’Union européenne, dans le cadre du programme MPRR, ainsi que du Royaume des Pays-Bas, dans le cadre d’une activité mise en œuvre au titre du partenariat stratégique COMPASS, dont le soutien continu contribue au renforcement de la gouvernance des migrations et de la coopération institutionnelle en Algérie.

L’OIM exprime sa sincère gratitude au gouvernement algérien pour son engagement remarquable, son leadership et sa volonté de faire progresser la gouvernance des migrations, ainsi qu’à toutes les institutions participantes pour leurs précieuses contributions à ce processus.

💙 Yesterday, we came together to celebrate World Humanitarian Day.

The Italian Cultural Institute in Algiers kindly opened its doors to United Nations colleagues for an afternoon co-organized by IOM and UNHCR, dedicated to humanitarian action and the people behind it.

Through short film screenings and an open discussion, colleagues had the opportunity to reflect, exchange and reconnect around what brings us together: our shared commitment to supporting people in need.

World Humanitarian Day is also a moment to recognize that every contribution matters and every person plays a part. Today, we celebrate all humanitarian workers and honour those who have lost their lives in the line of duty.

🌍 Le 29 juillet, l’OIM Algérie a organisé une réunion technique avec les ambassades des pays d’origine, afin de renforcer le dialogue et la coordination autour des activités de sensibilisation en faveur des migrants à travers l’Algérie.

Cette réunion a permis à l’OIM Algérie de présenter sa stratégie de sensibilisation, articulée autour de trois axes principaux :

🔹 Campagnes de sensibilisation numériques et en présentiel menées en collaboration avec les ambassades

🔹 Missions de sensibilisation à Tamanrasset

🔹 Mécanismes d’orientation des cas vulnérables en dehors d’Alger

Les participants ont discuté de la manière dont les cas orientés par les ambassades sont transférés à l’unité AVRR pour enregistrement et évaluation, de l’organisation des missions d’accompagnement pour les migrants vulnérables dans d’autres wilayas, et de la façon dont les canaux numériques – notamment la ligne d’assistance téléphonique de l’OIM – permettent aux migrants de s’enregistrer à distance et d’accéder à des informations précises, même depuis les régions les plus reculées du pays.

Les discussions ont également porté sur les défis pratiques rencontrés lors des activités de sensibilisation, ainsi que sur la voie à suivre : la désignation de points de contact au sein de chaque ambassade et le renforcement de la coordination concernant les procédures d’identification, les documents de voyage et l’accès aux services d’aide au retour volontaire et à la réintégration (AVRR).

🤝 L’OIM Algérie exprime sa sincère gratitude au gouvernement algérien pour sa coopération continue, remercie toutes les ambassades participantes pour leur engagement actif dans le renforcement de l’aide apportée aux migrants à travers le pays, et adresse ses sincères remerciements à l’Union européenne pour son généreux soutien à ce projet.

🌍 On July 29th, IOM Algeria hosted a technical meeting with Embassies of Countries of Origin, to strengthen dialogue and coordination on outreach activities supporting migrants across Algeria.

The session gave IOM Algeria the opportunity to present its outreach strategy, structured around three main pillars:

🔹 Digital and in-person outreach campaigns with embassies

🔹 Outreach missions in Tamanrasset

🔹 Referral mechanisms for vulnerable cases outside Algiers

Participants discussed how embassy referrals are transferred to the AVRR unit for registration and assessment, how es**rt missions are organized for vulnerable migrants in other wilayas, and how digital channels - including the IOM Hotline - allow migrants to register remotely and access accurate information, even from the most remote areas of the country.

Discussions also addressed practical challenges faced during outreach activities, and the way forward: designating focal points within each embassy and strengthening coordination on identification procedures, travel documentation, and access to Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR) services.

🤝 IOM Algeria expresses its sincere appreciation to the Government of Algeria for its continued cooperation, and thanks all participating Embassies for their active engagement in strengthening assistance to migrants across the country.

👥 Strengthening partnerships for migrant protection in Algeria.

This week, IOM Algeria hosted the Steering Committee of the Regional Development and Protection Programme for North Africa (RDPP NA), bringing together representatives of the Government of Algeria, including Mr. Rachid Meddah, Director General of Consular Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Abdelkader Zergueras, President of the Interministerial Committee on Migration Affairs (MICLAT), and Ms. Chahrazad Benazza, Deputy Director of Consular Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs; the European Union Delegation, represented by H.E. Ambassador Diego Mellado; the Embassy of Italy in Algeria, represented by H.E. Ambassador Alessandra Schiavo; the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, represented by Ms. Odilia Schölvinck; as well as representatives of the Italian Ministry of Interior, INVITALIA, IOM Italy, UNHCR Algeria, and other international partners.

The session, opened by IOM Algeria Chief of Mission Ms. Lalini Veerassamy, provided an opportunity to review progress achieved under the programme, discuss priorities for its next phase, and thank the Government of Algeria for its strengthened coordination with IOM on the protection of migrants, including potential victims of trafficking and unaccompanied and separated children.

The RDPP North Africa project combines direct protection assistance with long-term institutional strengthening to improve migration governance and reinforce protection systems for people in vulnerable situations.

Discussions highlighted the value of close cooperation between Algeria, UN agencies, and international partners in addressing complex migration dynamics, as well as the need for coordinated, protection-centered approaches, stronger national systems, and regional collaboration aligned with the country’s priorities.

The Government of Algeria also outlined its priorities for the 2026–2027 period, including addressing irregular migration, tackling its root causes in countries of origin, and stepping up efforts to combat trafficking in persons.

IOM Algeria warmly thanks the Government of Algeria, the European Union, the Governments of Italy and the Netherlands, UNHCR, and all partners for their continued support. Together, we continue working towards safe, orderly and regular migration.

تعزيز الشراكات من أجل حماية المهاجرين في الجزائر 👥

استضافت المنظمة الدولية للهجرة في الجزائر هذا الأسبوع اجتماع اللجنة التوجيهية لبرنامج التنمية والحماية الإقليمي لشمال أفريقيا (RDPP NA)، بمشاركة ممثلين عن الحكومة الجزائرية، إلى جانب شركاء دوليين وإقليميين.

وشارك في الاجتماع كل من السيد رشيد مداح، المدير العام للشؤون القنصلية والجالية الوطنية بالخارج بوزارة الشؤون الخارجية، والسيد عبد القادر زرقراس، رئيس اللجنة الوزارية المشتركة المكلفة بقضايا الهجرة، والسيدة شهرزاد بن عزة، نائبة المدير العام للشؤون القنصلية. كما حضر الاجتماع سعادة سفير الاتحاد الأوروبي لدى الجزائر دييغو ميّادو، وسعادة سفيرة إيطاليا لدى الجزائر أليساندرا سكيافو، وممثلة وزارة الشؤون الخارجية الهولندية السيدة أوديليا شولفينك، إلى جانب ممثلين عن وزارة الداخلية الإيطالية، ومؤسسة إنفيتاليا، والمنظمة الدولية للهجرة في إيطاليا، ومفوضية الأمم المتحدة لشؤون اللاجئين في الجزائر، وعدد من الشركاء الدوليين.

وافتتحت الاجتماع السيدة لاليني فيراسامي، رئيسة بعثة المنظمة الدولية للهجرة في الجزائر، حيث استعرض المشاركون التقدم المحرز في تنفيذ البرنامج، وناقشوا أولويات المرحلة المقبلة، مع الإشادة بالتعاون الوثيق بين الحكومة الجزائرية والمنظمة الدولية للهجرة في مجال حماية المهاجرين، ولا سيما الفئات الأكثر هشاشة، بما في ذلك ضحايا الاتجار بالأشخاص المحتملون والأطفال غير المصحوبين بذويهم أو المنفصلون عن أسرهم.

ويهدف برنامج التنمية والحماية الإقليمي لشمال أفريقيا إلى الجمع بين تقديم المساعدة المباشرة للمهاجرين وتعزيز القدرات المؤسسية على المدى الطويل، بما يسهم في تحسين حوكمة الهجرة وتطوير أنظمة الحماية للأشخاص في أوضاع الهشاشة.

كما استعرضت السلطات الجزائرية أولوياتها للفترة 2026–2027، والتي تشمل مكافحة الهجرة غير النظامية، ومعالجة الأسباب الجذرية للهجرة في بلدان المنشأ، وتعزيز الجهود الرامية إلى مكافحة الاتجار بالأشخاص.
