Meeting Between the Vice Minister of Education and Foundation Presidents Strengthens Educational and Social Collaboration in Sosúa
Sosúa, Puerto Plata. — In an atmosphere of fraternity, commitment, and institutional cooperation, an important meeting took place between Dr. Óscar Amargós, Vice Minister of Supervision and Quality Control of Education of the Ministry of Education of the Dominican Republic (MINERD), and several presidents of foundations that work in favor of educational and social development in the municipality of Sosúa.
The event began with a prayer of thanksgiving led by Pastor Ruth Medina, from the Pentecostal Church “Tabernáculo de Reunión” in Villa Nazareth, Sosúa, who expressed words of gratitude to God for the opportunity to serve and cooperate for the benefit of the educational community.
Lic. Luís José Sánchez, Regional Director of Education, delivered the welcoming remarks, highlighting the importance of collaboration between the Ministry of Education and local foundations that contribute to improving the quality of life of families in Sosúa and nearby communities.
During the event, a special recognition was presented to the Samaritan Foundation Canada for its valuable social work and contribution to the development of educational and community projects in Sosúa. The distinction was awarded by Dr. Óscar Amargós, Lic. Luís José Sánchez, and Lic. Dionisio Mézquita, Director of the Educational District 11-01.
Representing the honored foundation, Mr. John Madonia, President of Samaritan Foundation Canada, delivered heartfelt words of gratitude, reaffirming the commitment to continue supporting initiatives that promote education and social well-being in the region.
Mr. Rubén García Alonzo, Executive Director of Samaritan Foundation Dominican Republic, shared an inspiring reflection on the vision and commitment of the organization, emphasizing its continuous efforts in projects that positively transform the lives of Sosúa’s families.
The meeting concluded with words of appreciation from Lic. Evelyn Peniche, Master in Educational Guidance and Psychopedagogical Intervention, who underscored the importance of creating spaces for collaboration among the public sector, nonprofit organizations, and the local educational community.
The day ended with a special fellowship dinner, where participants shared experiences and reflections, reaffirming their joint commitment to strengthening education and social development in the municipality of Sosúa—guided by the principles of cooperation, solidarity, and community service.
