LOOKING FOR LIBRARY VOLUNTEERS
BUSCANDO VOLUNTARIAS
(English & Español)
How do I become a Biblioteca Anacaona volunteer?
Four easy steps.
First you read about our philosophy and if you agree you go to the second step.
Second step: orientation in person, you see the place, you learn about our history, our context and about why we do what we do. We want you to "connect" with who we are and where we come from. There's a philosophy behind it.
Third, an hour of "technical" orientation on site. You learn how to use our database, customer service, where the restrooms are, the lights, security, etc.
Fourth, you "shadow" a volunteer to observe and put into practice what you have learned. As a result of all four steps, you would have seen, heard, done, sensed, even smelled our nature and aura. You'll be ready for your community service.
Then we assign you a shift based on your availability and then you proceed to give your best service to the community, providing free access to reading, books and creativity.
