This week, we were grateful to host Vacation Bible School for the children in Batey 50. Throughout the week, the kids took part in Bible lessons, games, songs, crafts, and other activities in a safe and welcoming environment. We’re thankful for the DR Mission Team for their persistent dedication and compassion.

Camp Constelacion, founded by Josselyn Wolf, is a leadership and cultural camp that brings together children from bateyes—vulnerable communities in the Dominican Republic. This year marked our third camp at Batey Joaquincito, and what an incredible week it was!

Through the powerful story of Las Hermanas Mirabal, campers learned about courage, resilience, and the impact that ordinary people can have when they stand up for justice. Known as “Las Mariposas” (The Butterflies), the Mirabal sisters became symbols of hope and bravery as they opposed the dictatorship of Rafael Trujillo, inspiring generations throughout the Dominican Republic and beyond.

Our goal is to help every child see that their circumstances do not determine their future. By learning from the past, building leadership skills, and dreaming bigger, these young people are being equipped to make a difference in their communities and beyond.

Headline: A week of hard work, hope, and new beginnings! 🏠✨

This week at Maranatha Mission, we had the incredible privilege of hosting a youth group from Saint Matthews Baptist Church in Kentucky. Together, we were able to finish a new home for a family with four children in the Batey 106 community here in La Romana.

Our goal was simple: to ensure this family can live with the dignity they deserve. We spent the entire week working hard in the sun, but every drop of sweat was filled with joy and purpose. It was a blessing to celebrate with the family, share a meal with the entire community, and—most importantly—bring the message of the Gospel and hope to those who need it most.

It is a beautiful feeling to know that, when the rain comes, this family will now stay dry, warm, and safe in their own home.
A huge thank you to Saint Matthews Baptist Church for your dedication, your service, and for continuing to love our community and the Dominican Republic so well. We are so grateful for your hearts! 🇩🇴❤️
