SEPTEMBER is the Month of the Bible in the Dominican Republic! 📖🇩🇴

Throughout the entire month, churches across the country place a special focus and emphasis on the Bible and its importance in our lives.

The month culminates with Bible Day, when Christians from churches throughout a community or city come together for a parade. People march through the streets, carrying flags and holding their Bibles high as a public celebration of God’s Word.

EDMC had the privilege of preaching at a local church this Sunday about the benefits of the Bible, and afterward, joined the Bible Day parade through the streets of Nagua.

What a joy and privilege to celebrate God’s Word together with so many fellow believers!

Today we had the privilege of attending the memorial service for one of the pastors we have had the joy of knowing and walking alongside for many years.

Through our ministry with evangelical churches, we have been blessed to meet so many godly men and women who faithfully serve God in so many different contexts—rural and urban, large churches and small, across many denominations.

At the end of the day, what unites us is so much greater than what might distinguish us. We share the common ground of being called to shepherd God’s flock according to His heart.

It was especially meaningful to see pastors from many different churches and denominations come together today—not because of what separates us, but to offer support, prayer, and comfort to a grieving family.

GRATEFUL THANKS!

As we wrap up an incredible week of ministry, Sharon and I want to express our sincere gratitude to Joe and Karen Amaral and the entire HOPE360 family.

Over the past several days, we have had the privilege of ministering together to pastors, church leaders, congregations, and our EDMC staff. Through every conversation, meeting, message, and prayer, Joe and Karen brought encouragement, wisdom, and a genuine love for people that left a lasting impact.

This partnership is especially meaningful because it extends far beyond ministry projects. HOPE360 has faithfully stood with us as we work to empower, develop, and mentor pastors and leaders across the Dominican Republic. They have also come alongside us in helping raise support for ministry initiatives, leadership events, and humanitarian needs. But beyond the ministry partnership, we are grateful for their friendship.

There have been many times when Joe and Karen have encouraged Sharon and me personally, prayed with us, believed in us, and walked alongside us during both challenges and victories. Their friendship has been a tremendous blessing, and we deeply appreciate them.

Please join us in praying for Joe, Karen, and HOPE360 as they continue their ministry in the Dominican Republic, Liberia, and Ukraine. May God strengthen them, protect them, and continue to use them to bring hope, encouragement, and transformation to many lives.

Thank you, Joe and Karen. We love and appreciate you more than words can express.

What an incredible day of ministry in Nagua! 🙏

We had the privilege of preaching in local churches today, and we were so encouraged by the response to both messages.

One message focused on obedience—looking at Abraham, who obeyed God even though he didn’t know where he was going. His obedience was a step of faith and trust. Sometimes God doesn’t show us the destination; He simply asks us to take the next step and trust Him.

The second message explored the deep meaning behind the woman reaching out to touch the garment of Jesus. She reached for the wings—the tassels of His prayer shawl—believing there was “healing in His wings.” What a beautiful picture of faith reaching out to Jesus and trusting Him to meet us in our place of need.

Two powerful reminders today: obey God even when you don’t know where He is leading, and reach for Jesus believing He is able to meet your need.

We are so grateful for open hearts, hungry people, and churches eager to hear from God. What a privilege to serve alongside the pastors and churches of Nagua!

What a blessing this week has been!

We are in the middle of an incredible week of ministry with Joe and Karen Amaral from HOPE360. Together, we have been travelling to multiple rural communities, meeting with pastors, sharing meals, fellowshipping, praying, and encouraging leaders who faithfully serve in often challenging circumstances.

It has been a joy to spend time with ministry leaders and witness firsthand what God is doing throughout these communities. One of the greatest privileges of ministry is simply walking alongside pastors—listening to their stories, praying together, and reminding one another that we are not alone in the work God has called us to do.

Thank you, Joe and Karen, for investing your time, hearts, and lives into these precious leaders. We are grateful for the friendships being strengthened, the encouragement being shared, and the opportunities to serve together.

Please continue to pray for the pastors and churches we are visiting, that they would be strengthened, refreshed, and empowered by the Holy Spirit as they faithfully serve their communities.

A few days ago, this young mother and her child received some of the food aid we sent to Haiti.

For her safety and privacy, we've covered her face. But her story is real.

Like millions of Haitians, she wakes up every morning wondering how she will feed her family. Violence, instability, and economic collapse have turned even the simplest tasks—finding food, going to school, earning a living—into daily challenges.

It is impossible not to think about what life must feel like for a mother carrying the responsibility of caring for her children while living in such uncertainty.

The truth is that one bag of food will not solve all of her problems.

It will not bring peace to her community.
It will not restore Haiti's economy.
It will not remove the dangers she faces every day.

But it will do something important.

For a week or two, she will be able to put food on the table. Her children will not go to bed hungry. She will have one less burden to carry while navigating the difficult realities around her.

That is why we are preparing our next container of food aid for Haiti.

Every box represents hope. Every bag of food reminds a family that they have not been forgotten.

We are so excited to share that we have 20 new students in two communities that are ready for sponsors. This week we were able to meet with parents to complete new applications for CCP, with the help of the National Program Administrators, Wendy and Ashley, and the school directors for both schools. 🇭🇹 HAITI UPDATE 🇭🇹

Thousands of bags of life-sustaining food aid have already been distributed to families in desperate need across Haiti.

The need is overwhelming. The food is gone almost as quickly as it arrives.

Right now, another 400 boxes—containing 4,000 bags of nutritious dehydrated meals—are ready for transport and distribution.

For security reasons, we cannot share the exact locations where this food is being delivered. The situation remains volatile and unpredictable. But we are deeply grateful for the courageous volunteers who have risked much to transport this aid across the border and place it into the hands of hungry families.

This effort would not be possible without many people working together:

• Thank you to GEMS and Ontario Christian Gleaners for providing and shipping the two containers of humanitarian food aid.

• Thank you to the countless volunteers who prepared these meals and packed them with care.

• Thank you to the generous donors whose sacrificial giving made shipping and transportation possible.

• Thank you to Peter Chung and his team for tirelessly coordinating the movement and distribution of this food throughout Haiti.

Behind every bag of food is a child who will eat, a mother who will have something to place on the table, and a family that will know they have not been forgotten.

Please continue to pray for the people of Haiti. More than 5.8 million Haitians face acute food insecurity, and many communities are struggling to survive amid ongoing violence and instability.
