RE: Urgent Call for Intervention in South Sudan to Protect Civilian Lives
Lars Løkke Rasmussen
Dear Respected Representatives,
I am writing as a concerned Danish citizen, deeply troubled by the escalating situation in South Sudan. The Government of South Sudan has failed to fulfil its duty to protect civilians, and recent developments demand immediate international attention.
Reports indicate that the South Sudanese government has deployed tribal military forces to conduct a forceful disarmament exercise in the towns of “Nasir and “Ulang , upper Nile state. without prior consultation with local communities. This action, carried out by
non-unified forces lacking proper training in the rule of law, poses an imminent threat to civilian safety and risks exacerbating local tensions.
The use of ethnically aligned troops, rather than a neutral, unified force trained in human rights and legal protocols, raises serious concerns about potential abuses and human rights violations. The absence of community dialogue further undermines trust and destabilizes an already fragile region.
I urge the United Nations and the Danish government to intervene immediately to prevent potential violence and hold the South Sudanese

government accountable for any harm inflicted upon civilians. I call for diplomatic pressure, independent monitoring, and, if necessary,
peacekeeping measures to ensure the protection of innocent lives.
The international community must act swiftly to uphold human rights and foster lasting peace initiatives in South Sudan. Lives are at stake, and your timely intervention could make a profound difference.
Thank you for your attention to this critical matter.
Sincerely,
