This is how you actually layer drums:
Choose sounds that are different enough!

Layering too many sounds that have similar characteristics will only muddy up your mix and potentially introduce phasing in your drums.

So once you choose your main sound/tone look for different ones, nobody needs a 909 hat on top of a 909 hat😅

Writing a catchy bass can often be a scary task, where do you event start from???

Well having a little melodic idea like some chords or maybe a vocal to write to is the cheat code you are looking for!

Follow these simple steps:
- Take the root notes from the chord progression
- Chop them up
- Create subtle rhythm variation between chords
- Add passing notes to guide your bass from one chord to another
- Add octave jumps to make you bassline more funky
- Automate the filter cutoff on your bass patch to add movement
